Wheel Cleaner

What wheel cleaner do you use? These are my wheels and they are quite a bit of work to keep semi clean. I just wash them once a week. Live on a dirty road and get lots of brake dust I drive 500+ miles a week.

Personally, I just use soapy water and a soft sponge, but most of the detailing pros use Sonax Full Effect wheel cleaner which won't harm the finish on our wheels. Good stuff/reviews.

If you wash them once a week you don't need a wheel cleaner.
Soap water will work just fine.

This poll would be better if it included other cleaners from the low end to the higher end, maybe adding an option with stars where members can share results.

The SONAX Wheel Cleaner Full Effect is definitely my pick here. It's very strong yet pH neutral so it's safe on virtually any wheel finish. Highly recommend you pick some up if you haven't tried it yet!

just buy a wheel brush, ive have had many mesh style wheels. if you wash that often you dont need wheel cleaner. i would wash the car every other week and use a small california car duster on the brake dust in between. never had scratches or any other defects. now i have five spoke wheels, not my preference on a sedan but come wash time i love them.

i used sonax and it worked great for me. just applied to a dry wheel let it soak for 3 mins then wiped down with a speed brush! deff. easier then soap and water for when the wheels get real dirty.

I really like the Car-Lack (i.e. Klasse) wheel cleaner. And instead of wheel wax, the Car-Lack All-in-One is pretty amazing at cleaning and "sealing" the wheels.

http://www.carlack.de/cms/archives/530

I don't use wheel cleaner every time I was, maybe every 4th or 5th time. Usually soap (again, Car-Lack soap) and water does the trick
