DIY - Help with removing decals
Anyone have any advice on removing the 328xi symbol and the dealership decal they put on without my approval? Attached are some pictures of the car, any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

theres a bunch of DIY of debadging your cars, it seems pretty simple. heat up the adhesve then dental floss the badge off. THen you use some glue remover such as goo gone and ur all set.

I debadged my 3 today. It took me no more then 15 minutes to remove. I ended up using compound to remove the residue left from the badge. Below are some pics and pics of the tools that I used to get the job done.

Dental Floss, Quick Detailer Spray, MicroFiber Towel - FTW
For the decal, use fingernail but make sure you don't scratch too deep to hurt the paint. That's how I got my long BMW of San Francisco decal off.

For floss btw, I highly recommend glide for this (I like it for my teeth as well). It is made out of teflon, so it is much stronger, much slippier, and doesn't fray like the other stuff..

As far as that habberstad sticker, I would take it back to habberstad and make then take it off. I got my car from Rallye and when I ordered the car I told them no rallye badge ...I most have told them a million times while I was waiting to get the car "no badge" and they still put it on...I went back a few days later (I was too excited the night I picked up the car to realize it was there) and they took it off for me took like 5 minutes.

I would just try removing the decal yourself. You'll waste time taking it to the dealer and waiting when you could have done it yourself. It takes no more then 5 - 10 minutes to complete. I do agree with one of the posters here...do not dig your nail in too deep or else you'll scratch the paint.
I hate when dealerships do that. Why can't they just give you one of their stupid license plate frames? That way you can easily replace them with something better. |
