These photos are interesting, good find swamp.

By the looks of the photos i think they are testing brake reliability?
what do you guys think?

I hope they are testing to improve brake fade and cooling.

Indeed this is the full vehicle simulator where the can run the Ring in the lab. You can see the rotors glowing! The SA brochure makes some (BS) claim that the brakes are as good as ceramic. Ugh, SA marketeeting...

Esquire failed to credit me when he stole my link.

Yeah, I read that part about the brakes. Was sceptical.
I do believe there is some merit to their claims however. Don't really see BMW skimping on the brakes if they aren't really up to snuff. The calipers look a decent size themselves, so the single piston must be pretty large itself.

BMW has the best brakes on the market after porsche.

Porsche, MB and occasionally Audi > BMW.

I have had great luck with my E36 mostly stock set up even on the track. Have, of course heard a lot of horror stories about E46. I suspect, especially with the new strong emphasis on brake cooling that the stock brake system on the car will be very good.

Lets hope they are "as good as ceramic brakes" because this car aint a track car till it can do track days with out major brake fade or overheating.

They won't be unless they have some hidden technology they aren't sharing with the rest of the world. I completely agree with the latter part of you statement. One of the reason P cars cost more is their supperior brakes. I would be more than willing to pay more for P car like brakes. The red and yellow calipers really make the P cars stand out from the rest of the pack.

All you have to do is go aftermarket. Then you can get your snazzy calipers.

But you should understand when you are buying a sports car you should expect it to atleast come with an option of improved braking power to make it suitable for more than daily driving, not go aftermarket.

Thats something you would do on a nissan or supra not a BMW M3.

Has BMW ever offered a brake upgrade..............?
Mercedes? AMG doesn't count since it is a different car, not an option to accesorize with.
Ahh, ok, so only noone should go aftermarket on an M3? Good solid comment you have there....

The standard brakes on a M3 shouldn't fade on the track so quickly as has been the case in the past.
