Depends what you're doing - are you just moving files from iTunes folders to the CD (i.e. retaining MP3 format) - or are you burning via iTunes (which involves creating a playlist and burning the tracks from there)?

Ed mate, I'm not really the best person at computers.
What I'm doing is sticking in a blank CD-R and it comes up with a menu... i then click ''make a music cd'' or something like that. I then open I-tunes and drag accross songs to the ''computers'' own playlist. Burns and plays on the computer but not in the car. Cheers

Install a new, fresh, blank CD as you have done. Wait for any windows to pop up and close them all. Open itunes. Create a new playlist. Select the tracks (from your library) that you want to burn onto the cd. Drag those into the new playlist you've created. Click on the title of the playlist - this should then show you what tracks you have in it. In the bottom corner there'll be a button saying something like "Burn to disc" or similar. Click on that. All done.

When you choose "Burn to Disc" are you then changing the default option from MP3 to CD Audio?
If you car won't play MP3s you need to do this, but you will obviously be limited to 74/75 minutes of the CD. |

If you have downloaded the songs via iTunes and not imported them from a different library, then they will be in MP4 format. Once you have created your playlist, click on it and somewhere in the menu bar, there's an option to convert them to MP3. It will then create mp3 version in the same playlist.

I burn CD-Rs for use in my BMW all the time.
In iTunes, other posters are correct that you need a playlist. Drag the songs in there you want on the CD. -If you're making an MP3 CD, then you can have up to 700MB worth -If you are making an audio CD (a regular CD, basically), then you are limited to 80 minutes' worth While in the playlist, click File -> Burn Playlist to Disc -Select the disc format (audio CD or MP3 CD) -Preferred Speed - I use 2x (had skipping problems burning at higher speeds) -Click Burn As for whether the car can take MP3 CDs ..... check your owner's manual. Mine says it can, though I never tried it.

Yes - Audio CD if you just want a regular CD with tracks. Be sure to use 2x burn speed.
When looking at the playlist, at the very bottom of the window it will tell you how many MB/minutes of songs are in the playlist. Make sure it's less than 1 hr, 20 minutes if you want to burn everything on a single CD. Otherwise you'll need more than one.
