Avatars and signatature pictures........

I seem to be constantly challenged by posting photos....jeeeeeze louieeeze it's annoying. Anyway, I'm viewing the specs for photo size and wondering why when I resize my photo choices to the prescribed dimensions they look really small? I know there's only a limited space for the avatar but some members seem to have really large and gorgeous signature photos.....Rick Hunter....how do ya do it?

I'd like to know too. I'm no computer geek and just learning to post pictures regularly was an accomplishment. Rick sweetheart, care to elaborate?

Not quite sure what Rick did to get by the rules. We are allowed a 500x100 or 19.5k whichever is smaller. I compressed mine by using the "Save for Web" option in Photoshop and did make sure that I respected their size rules.

Rick's is 650x150 at 109KB and is hosted on an outside site but I have tried links to my own site as well as the local download and got rejected for similar sized shots both ways. I have no idea how he slipped that one in....

It's all in the lighting, baby!!!

I guess I'm not following the forum regulations, as my pic is slightly larger (oops). Please lemme keep it, please!!!

First of all, make sure you have your signature image on a website that allows hotlinking (eg. photobucket, flickr, etc.) Once you're in the Edit Signature section of the User CP, Just click the "Insert Image" button to insert your pic link. Done!

Just make sure your picture isn't so large that it annoys the other members when they're sifting through the threads. I found mine to be just right (it was actually longer on Z4um).

Good luck and thanks for the compliments!

Hehe - I just figured out the trick too. You still have to keep the image you show under 150 pixels high and 800 pixels wide.

Well, hell. My attempts at glory keep gettin' shot down for being too large. I'm to sleepy to do any more, at least I got an avatar up.
