Spotted: Mineral Grey F30 in NJ
One of the cool things about living so close to the BMWNA Headquarters is getting to see all sorts of cars in different degrees of camouflage.. Anyway, the other day I pulled into a CVS parking lot and parked next to what at first glance of the taillights looked like a current generation 5. Once I got out of the car though I noticed that whatever it was was just about the same size as my E90 328i.. Once I walked around the front and saw the headlights it was clear what the car was. Unfortunately I didn't have a ton of time to stare at it, but I did snap a photo. I'm not sure if I like the front end yet, but it's a nice looking car.

Hard to tell from the pic, but I'd guess it's Everest Grey. That's a sports line car with the horrific US front plate holder, let's hope it's removable. Playing around the UK configurator, there's no way those are HID's, so they must be the standard halogens.

There was early talk that the US bumper would have that ugly wart permanently. This pic sure makes it look like a removable item though, which it hopefully is. I've lived in two states, CA and TX, that require front plates, but have never run one and provided this ugly thing can be removed, don't plan on changing that. However if the US bumper comes with that standard, I will either run a front plate or pay out the nose for a Euro bumper cover.

EDIT: I uploaded a slightly larger version of the original photo as well as the other one I took which might show better whether or not the plate mount is removable or not.. Last edited by whosagrubb; 12-27-2011 at 02:43 PM.. |

I'm looking at Mineral Gray Sport Line with Modern Line wheels and I recall seeing another Mineral Gray Sport Line with Modern Line wheels posted on another thread or on another forum, is this the same car?

that is indeed a sport line with grey leather.. did you have a chance to see the car inside ? impressions on the gray leather ?? I now salesmen would not advice to go for it, however, now that the dashboard comes i dark, gray might become more popular.. I am considering actually taking one sport line with this leather.. pitty you don't have other shots, but thanks anyway !! long time we have not been feed with new pictures! early january, we have a big car event and hopefully bmw will realese new cars with + options and leather options.

Don't worry about the wart...you can clearly see in earlier photos of the US-version bumper (example below) that the license-plate mount is made as a separate piece. If you study the photo, it looks like the bumper will have the same "lip" as the European version if you remove the holder -- it is unlikely that they are glued together. Note however that the US bumper must still be made from a different (or modifiable) mold because of the US side reflector insert -- for a total of 4 different molds when you include the M-Sport version.
