Glacier Silver F30 Versus Titanium Silver
Judging by the photos of the sportline 335i stick thats been on the web in silver, it seems like Glacier Silver will be a nice color. Do you think it leans towards Silverstone where titanium is more white silver?
I've had three titanium silver BMWS in my life, a Z, a 3 and a 5. My hope if the new glacier silver lives up to the tradition the titanium has in the BMW line up. Looks like the other lines will retain titanium while the 3 ditches it for the new glacier color. Bold move... Anyone also not sure what they think... |

I haven't yet seen Glacier Silver F30 in person, but here are real life pics. Much better than looking at a CGI configurator version of the color.
Perhaps Southlight (who took the first set of pics) can chime in to better answer your question.

Great photos in real lighting conditions. Do you by any chance have similar photos of Mineral Grey from the reveal parade (besides the one already posted earlier)? Looking through all the threads, there are not many color-accurate photos/videos of F30 in Mineral Grey to be found yet.

Will be sure to post up more mineral grey photos as I come across them.

I own a silver E90. That F30 in silver looks like the very same shade to me.

I would be interested in seeing this in person also; I have a titanium E90, and from these pictures it looks like perhaps the glacier color has a bit more gray in it, and that the titanium is a bit more silvery silver.
What I do not understand, is why someone who would want to purchase this very classic, elegant exterior color, would also want strip of red plastic across the dashboard; makes no sense to me. We will have to see, once the US configurator is up, but it looks like BMW has made it difficult to avoid their pre-packaged interior/exterior color combinations. |

Perhaps because there is some truth to it
I did not mean that the red strip was obligatory, just that these pre-packaged interiors with the plastic strips, in the Sport Line, are not appealing to me. I understand that other options are available in the other lines. From the pictures, the light wood trim looks to me like contact paper. But I believe the OP is correct, the new silver does look similar to silverstone and should be a great exterior color. |

I have looked up the color formulations for Glacier Silver and Titanium silver
Titanium silver is basically a mix of very fine silver and some course silver. This gives it that fine shine with silver flakes On the Glacier Silver they have removed the Fine silver , added much more course silver and added a tiny amount of black, blue, red and wite. This should make for a slightly darker color with much more of a silver flake look Silverstone 2 has a lot more blue in it

I love the Titanium Silver paint job on my E90 330i so much that it was going to be my choice without a second thought for the F30 335i I've ordered for ED this summer. But, to get 2TB on a US car, I had to add ZSL. While I am sure I will like the 4AD/4DL interior trim combo I chose, (my E90 has aluminum trim), I just don't know if the LCL3 (black with red stitching) interior would look good on a silver car. So, I've ordered Mineral Grey. There's time to change back to silver -- I am waiting for the dealer's first units to arrive and hoping one of them will be like the 335i in this thread -- a silver ZSL. (BTW, I realize one can get a grey interior with black stitching, but I want black leather). |

In any case, I'm glad I didn't initially order in January as I have definitely changed my mind since then. Leaning towards Glacier Silver now. |

If you look at the pictures of the Galcier Silver at the US press event, you'll see that it's a slightly more heavier shade of grey. See here:
http://www.f30post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=642776 These pictures, in particular, show off its real darkness: http://www.f30post.com/goodiesforyou...e/IMG_6983.jpg http://www.f30post.com/goodiesforyou...e/IMG_7109.jpg Having said that and after seeing it in person, I like the Titanium Silver color better. I prefer really light metallic colors that shine and shimmer in the sun. However I still may get the Galcier Silver because it's the only silver color available and probably the best color of the bunch. |
