Negotiation
Quote:
Best strategy is to find some very competitive offers, then go back to your dealer and ask them to match it. They may refuse but at least you'll find their walk-away point |

Walk away there are 100s of MB dealers in the UK. One of them will give you the discount you want if your request is reasonable.
There cannot be many people looking to buy a new E63. |

My thoughts too. Surely there's a chunk to be taken off an E63 - they're hardly flavour of the month these days - Palmball probably has more insight into this sort of car/deal...

Just look at what they sell for after 6 and 12 months....you don't want to be buying an E63 without massive discount unless you fancy losing upwards of £30k in a year.
MB were or still are doing a subsidised finance offer which sees them putting in something like £8k deposit (this is advertised on the MB website). On top of this you should be looking for a MINIMUM 6% discount but I reckon anything up to 10% should be achievable if the need the sale to hit volume targets. All in all, £8k from MB UK plus 6% from the dealer should be in the region of £14k off list price and I'd not consider one of these without at least that amount of discount. Even with that discount you'll lose another £15k in the first few months but thats the nature of the beast when buying £80k cars The alternative is to buy used and get a HUGE saving but you're then looking at the 6.2 N/A if you go down that route as I don't think theres any bi-turbo's on the used market yet. |

Yes I totally agree with what has been said I think I will go back to the dealer with palmballs advice. The Mercedes finance rate is very good but do they offer the same rate on on up to 1yr old cars ? I am well aware of the hit these type of cars take, but I need a car with 4 doors and a bit more room than my current m3 which I do love but need it to be a bit bigger and 4 doors

You can do a to better than that!
The last M3 I bought in a few months ago was over £60k list....I got it (admittedly an ex-demo) a few weeks old with around 1k miles and paid £46.5k. Nearly new is always going to be best for getting the most cash off a newish car (says someone who's just bought a brand new Jag ) but you don't get the manufacturer subsidised finance offers so you have to weigh up the difference and see which costs you less. So to the OP...if you want MB's cheap finance, you have to buy new so you've got to negotiate hard, really hard on a new E63. As a starting point, give MB Birmingham Central a call (0121 766 1600) as they're always up for a deal - on a previous C63, I got the subsidised finance, £5k deposit contribution plus an additional 6% discount from them (and I've heard of others getting even better deals) so it's definitely do-able. I reckon if you can get a good discount on an E63 then it's a much smarter buy than the new M5 which you'll likely have to pay list for and the M5 will likely depreciate just as heavily in the end. |

If its any consideration there was a demo m5 at a sytner dealership up at £71950 on ph a few days ago. They can't let it go till February but that was roughly a saving of £10k on one already.
