VOB BMW put 200 miles on my car during a radio repair!!!

So today was terrible for me. I went to pick up my bmw 328ci from the dealership after 7 days to get the radio and seatbelt arm repaired. When I got in the car I noticed that the odometer read 181 miles more than when I left it there. I even have a picture of my dashboard right when I dropped off the car. So even after this hard evidence, they claim that it could be the digital key reading the mileage incorrectly which is bs because I have a picture of the odometer and their paperwork also matches the mileage from my picture. The district manager even came in with a piece of paper with the mileage in kilometers and incorrectly converted it to miles to show that the mileage wasn't that high. After i used my iphone to convert it correctly and even did it on google, he finally stopped trying to treat me like a fool. On top of that I noticed scratches on the front bumper that were definitely not there when i dropped it off. I can't stand that dealerships won't treat their customers correctly. So now they have agreed to fix the scratches but they offered me $1000 towards the purchase of an extended warranty. Why the hell would I want to give them more money to purchase an extended warranty that I'm not interested in purchasing. I would much rather have either cash or have them give me the warranty instead of forcing me to spend money to buy one. All I really want is for them to admit that it actually happened and to compensate me fairly for it. The thing that pisses me off the most is that they keep denying it and claiming that they are offering me the fix and warranty discount in "good faith" since i am a "loyal customer". I am a fair and reasonable person, but this is just ridiculous and they need to treat their customers appropriately. These car dealers are such d-bags and I think they should get whats coming to them. I have no power to do anything so I'm hoping this story will at least help people prevent this from happening and to hurt the reputation of one of the worst dealerships I've ever used. I know many people have said it before but VOB BMW in Rockville MD is the worst dealership around!! Does anyone have any suggestions about what I should do? What to ask for compensation? Should I contact a lawyer? I may even contact the police because it seems like a crime to me.

BMWNA is your best bet. They have no excuse for putting that kind of mileage on your car to fix the radio and seat belt arm.

Take it to Tischer from now on. In addition to fixing your bumper, ask them to compensate you for the wear-and-tear on your car. 2011 IRS standard milege reimbursement is $.51 per mile. It's only $102 but it's more about the principle of it. Don't let their bodyshop touch it, take it EuroPros. If they refuse then tell the dealer you are going file a complaint with the BBB, BMWNA, as well as posting your experience on BMW forums.

All the above is good advice. Especially contacting bmwna. Jesus christ. Imagine how many miles they'd have put on it if you had an M!!!

I hear your frustration. I am frustrated as hell with them. Eventhough I bought my car from them, I will never bring my car in for service work. Same thing happened to me everytime I take my car there for maintenance work. I always find something wrong when I get it back. And they won't admit their fault. And yes for the most part the service manager offers me incentive to get stuff from the parts counter and their local BMW body department to do the scratch repair work. I told the service manager, you are wasting my time and I shouldn't have to deal with this everytime I take my car in. My next maintenance service will be Tisher.

as much as people say to call BMW NA, they aren't going to do anything other than lend a sympathetic ear and file your complaint in a database. They may call the dealer and inquire, but that's about it.

I haven't seen or heard of any instance where BMW NA stepped in and made things right and "made that dealership pay".

BMW NA really only comes into play when dealing with warranty work, where a dealer won't cover it, but after calling BMW NA, they will and/or some amicable solution is reached.

Remember, BMW Dealerships are a franchise, and that said, BMW NA doesn't have any jurisdiction other than selling them the rights to sell and service their cars, recalls, and other proprietary stuff.

If anything, you're going to have to find the owner(s) who own VOB Auto Group, which isn't BMW NA.

Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Could have been worse. Bastards could have wrecked it, and then lied about it like they did to this poor guy and his M5.

VOB are a bunch of dbags - their sales manager is an ass and so is "Jay"... they lie and rip people off and hopefully this will be a lesson to those within the beltway to use tischer or bmw alexandria.

calling bmwNA is usually annoying HOWEVER if you receive the survey in email write a scathing review - owning bmw's over a decade i've learned that that is the best way to get the attention of BMWNA and a guaranteed way to receive restitution

Sorry to drag up a dead horse of a topic. Went to look at a car at VOB earlier this week and my sales guy mentioned VOB was (or is going through) the process of being purchased by the people that own Towson BMW.

Maybe there is a chance service could be get better in the not-so-distant future? Meanwhile, I'll keep going to Tischer.
