Even those advertised results look weak. Eurocharged got me 24whp over another stock 328i.

LMK if you want to get AA or Eurocharged instead of ESS. I'll make sure you get set up with the right people. Eurocharged also offers the MyGenius device which is an OBD2 device that stores up to 3 tunes that you can flash through on your own.

330i

you still won't have the same numbers as a 330i speed wise due to the other changes (final drive ratio for example), but your engine with the intake manifold swap is essentially a 330i engine now w/o 330i software.

I think ESS will be better cuz they have resources in europe and can get access to lots of different bmw engine.

They help me unlock the 3 stage DISA in a single shot, it will be a great addition to your X drive since you really need that low end torque to get you moving.

Biggest difference is down at the low end, with DISA, your engine will reach max torque at around 2750rpm instead of 4000. it makes a lot of difference on the freeway for me in six gear, 65-80mph is right between 2500-3000rpm.

here is a link with very good info.

In the past I read that if you keep flashing your ECU over and over, I'm guessing over 10-20 times, the ECU will lock itself and car would have to be dealt with at the dealer. Is there a difference between mapping, tuning, flashing?

I'd like to be hooked up with the right people too, I was thinking ESS>AA, and you're suggesting Eurocharged & AA>ESS. I'd like to learn more.

I haven't heard about the ECU locking, maybe someone can chime in.

As far as ESS, AA, and EC, I think it depends more on your location. I personally have heard very little about ESS. My understanding is that they're the best option for people who are not located near an AA retailer, so they have to flash the car themselves.

However, Eurocharged is new to the scene. They're based right here in Houston where I live, so I've had a lot of first hand experience with them (and AA). EC offers the flash tool like ESS does, but according to ESS' website, they only advertise 10whp.

For reference:

A stock 328i dyno'd 185whp on Eurocharged's Dyno Dynamics (reads low)
My car dyno'd 203whp with AA on the exact same dyno only 2 days before.
30 minutes later, after EC reflashed me, I dyno'd 209whp. I was picking up 2whp every pull, but we decided to stop beating on the car since it had gone through over 12 pulls that hour... I probably have more power now that the ECU adapted.

When I redyno (car is currently missing front end for OSS), I will post a full review of everything with charts, #'s, and videos if I get another GoPro

If you have any questions or want to get setup with AA or EC, PM me.

thats very nice increase, I got about 213hp max with ESS but on Dynojet with PI being the only mod. Its hard to compare between dyno, i think dyno dynamic is kinda weird, some read low some reads high. However, with 25hp increase on same dyno is phenomenon, Looking forward to see your review post.

off topic: just wondering did u dyno your PE before and after?

Is it worth it to get tuned by ESS or other tunning shops out there? I heard the process of sending in your OEM file to get tuned is a gimmick. Basically the shop already have a tuned file for your car which is prepared in advance. There are free tuned files that you can download. Are they any better than these tunning shops?

i think you sent in the file not for the tune, but for tuner to crack the encryption in order to flash the DME. yes its true that they use a standard tune for most 328i, but our DME can adapt itself to light modification such as intake or exhaust system. More aggressive setup will then require a special tune.

I see. Can you explain a little more on the encryption part? Does the tuner use information from the OEM file and add it to their tuned file so that it can be flashed? By the way how do you like your ESS tune?

I have no idea, thats why i pay them to do it. ESS tune works very well, now i can feel bang in acceleration when each stage of DISA kicks on.

I'm confused, I thought M Power did your AA Tune. Are you saying that you M Power put their standard tune on and then had this other shop tweak it some more?
