How bad is the car Market?

I've just been offered a new 6 series 4.0d for £52000. It's just coming up 4 months old and the list on it was £76500. Its covered only a few thousand miles too!

The worst bit though is they thought my fully loaded 520d touring with 22000 pn the clock was worth £23000 as a trade price. It's not even a year old.

I'm not worried about my car as I'm going to keep it for several years as a work horse but cars seem to be depreciating at a rate similar to 2008.

Though I took a hit selling my GTS back to a Porsche dealer I saw the price drop to below what I sold it to them for. I was planning to buy a new 991 but the price increase has knocked that on the head and though I would like a new M5 I worked out using their GFV on the vehicle that it was going to cost me just under £90000 for three years of ownership and 45000 miles if the car hit the GFV at the end of the term.

So I'm turning into a miserable old fart driving a 2.0 diesel estate because I just can't find a car that I want that won't lose 10k plus just driving it out the dealers.

I'm not sure what's going on at he moment, but everything is dropping quite rapidly. Demand will soon outstrip supply, and the prices should firm up, as everything is too cheap. However we are in the month of doom for the motor trade, and we should see a good recovery in January. Mind you, I've sold 3 this week already ..........
