PROcede firmwear questions

so shiv is out of the office and i dont want to bug him or Robert on their cells, so maybe you guys can help answering a few questions.

i have a v5 procede with 1-11 installed currently.

now my question i have not downloaded the user interface off the website until just now. (see here for referance http://procedetuning.com/BMW/n54/dow...downloads.html ) when i clicked on the link, PROcede User Tuning Interface v5.32 BETA.zip, i downloaded everything but i cant find the PDE-reader icon within that file. so i downloaded the user software 4.20 instead - and found the PDE-reader icon and launched the software.

so if im not mistaken my next step is to go to COMMS on the top and select UPDATE FIRMWARE, and then select the updated 11-25 maps which will then be upleaded to the PROcede directly to my car via the USB cord?

does that all sound correct?
am i missing a step here guys?

you need to click on the exe file included in the 5.32 folder to launch the prog. READ the Read me file as well for next steps.

sorry but i dont see the exe file! ugh i wish there was a better way to show you. but they 4.20 version has everything... so your saying that i CAN NOT use the 4.20 for the v5 PROcede? :-/

The download is a zip, unzip the folder and within you will find a folder called: PROcede User Tuning Interface v5.3

Inside of that folder, you'll find a file called: Procede User Tuning Interface v5.30.exe
Run that file. The firmware file you need will be in the folder with the new maps. Just read the READ.ME files to make sure you are loading everything in the steps provided.

Does not look like the read me file was added to that zip file but was with previous versions. Vishnu should address that.

11-1 v5 Aggressive (USER TUNING) Beta maps with 109ICUA Firmware


READ ME FIRST!

IMPORTANT:
Since these are BETA maps, we request that any issues/concerns be directed to us directly at shiv@vishnutuning.com or by phone at 925-415-9148. We will not support/troubleshoot these maps on public forums.

Please note that these are BETA maps and can ONLY be used with Rev2.5 or Rev3 hardware. Using them on Rev2 hardware will result in ignition codes/misfire/etc,.

Update Process:
(Many of these steps are redundant but always better to be safe and sorry)
Step 1: Update to firmware #109ICUA as usual (laptop plugged in to a AC socket) using the Procede User Tuning Interface v5.31 (downloadable from procedetuning.com)
Step 2: After firmware update is complete (0-100%) and Procede resets, turn ignition power fully OFF and wait 2 seconds
Step 3: Turn ignition power fully ON
Step 4: Upload the appropriate 11-1 map
Step 5: Once uploaded, go to Mode 3 on the Command Center and do commands 12 thru 1 (12, 11, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 in that order).
Step 6: Go to COMMS menu in user software and select "Reset Procede". This will take a few seconds. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT STEP!
Step 7: Turn ignition power fully OFF and wait 5 seconds
Step 8: Start car and begin driving!


Additional Notes:
-Erase your existing Procede folder that is saved on your HD. And download the new version (v5.31) of the User Tuning Interface and save it to your HD. With it, the datalogging preferences are already set-up. No need to do anything other than start and stop the catalog. This software also gives you access to some new adjustable parameters.

-These maps are mainly intended for 93 (or higher) octane fuels. The use of lower octane (91oct) may result in inconsistent performance.

-Autotuning is currently disabled. So you will have to chose the appropriate map. Stg1, Stg2 and Stg3 get increasingly aggressive. Stg 1 is appropriate for unmodified (or lightly modified) vehicles. Stg 2 is intended for more modified vehicles (ie, downpipes or FMIC). And Stg3 is intended for a fully modified cars (DCI and downpipes and FMIC). Using a map that is too aggressive for your hardware/conditions will result in inconsistent performance.

-Do not use MAP 3 (NA map) for extended daily driving as it may result in strange adaptation issues. For valet purposes, using it is fine.

-MAP 4 (Progressive methanol), as before, is fully enabled. With these aggressive maps, we recommend a meth/water mixture of at least 75/25. Suggested Start Boost and Ignition Correction settings (for Map2) are 65% and 0% respectively.

-You must use the attached firmware with these new maps (pro5v109 ICUA.bin).

-The default wastegate position is set to 90% as usual. If you have a wastegate rattle issue, you can drop this value to 30%. If you have no wastegate rattle, dropping this value will have no other effect than making your exhaust note deeper and louder.


Mapping/Firmware changes:
1) Enabled a new ignition advance limit RPM threshold (Ignition Control->Ignition Output)

2) Open Loop Fueling adjustable parameter is now active.

3) Wastegate position/rattlefix feature is now active immediately upon start-up (oil temp conditional was removed).

4) 0% Ignition Correction is now MORE aggressive than before. This is because 0% IC results in positive ignition correction (advance). This means running 0% IC is more critical of octane/fuel quality than before.

5) New boost mapping allow for high boost pressures in the low end/midrange.

6) New Start Boost % input is scaled differently. So an input value of 55% NO LONGER sets peak boost target at 15.5psi @ 5500rpm. Instead, depending on the stage map selected, peak boost will be 17-19psi and will occur in the 3500-4500rpm range. Because of this, it is very important to not get too overzealous with this start boost setting.

6) Revised boost control logic makes the effect of throttle closure activity more subtle. This means it is completely normal to see partial throttle closure during full boost operation.

7) AFR targets are considerably richer than before. Even at partial throttle. AFR targets are achieved VERY quickly.
