Helix | First Preliminary Dyno with Helix Intake

Hey guys,
Just got off the Dyno with my car and we had a pretty successful outcome. We tested with my car which has a stock air box and then swapped intakes.

We started dyno'ing about an hour ago and used my car the entire time so obviously the conditions are the same in between dynos. We did about 5 pulls with the stock air box and got a max run of 370 hp and 438 tq. We then swapped the air box with the new Helix Intake and Dyno'd again. This is the comparison from Stock airbox to Helix airbox. My numbers went up to 385 hp and 444 tq for a 15 hp gain and a 6 torque gain!! This is not a perfect scientific test as we are not in a wind tunnel so data logs on road tests will follow so we have flowing air.

So is the factory airbox empty, or does it have the stock filter in place? I assume empty?

Factory airbox still has a filter as the air coming from the front of the car still needs to be filtered ... hood was open for both

This looks nice. Any pricing information? How about fitment issues with engine mounted meth pumps or aftermarket chargepipes? I know the second question is alot as there are so many possible combination, however I figured I would ask anyway

Yes, probably, but datalogs will bear that out. Mr. 5's intake is, in my opinion, the best solution out there. This will hopefully be a good solution for people with fitment issues, who want ease of installation, and a tidy engine bay. My guess is that the datalogged difference between Mr. 5's and ours will be little or negligible, but he gets full credit for the concept.

oh, and full disclosure: the second test included our high-flow panel filter inside the box, not the paper filter that we had in our 'before' test. Otherwise, apples to apples: the test conditions were identical: car, coolant and oil temps, dyno calibration, atmospheric conditions. As Alex said, without a wind tunnel, this isn't perfect science, but if you look where the torque delta is on the dyno graph, the performance increase is where intuitively you would expect it to be. Street datalogs should bear that out.

Another quick question. What are the modifaction on the car? It is a little odd that peak whp is very lower in the rpm band, it almost looks like the clutch or tires slipped on the dyno.

Here is a link to the dyno test I did with a Mr. 5 Intake and then a completely stock airbox in the same dyno session:

Can the turbos still be heard spooling like a traditional DCI?
