DSC Issue
Have an 07' 328i with 90k, and when I change from D to DSC sport mode it doesn't switch and still says D. I cannot shift gears when it is shifted over..
I've talked to a friend that said it was the shifter assembly, but unsure. Searched the forums and didn't find anything. Any suggestions? Thanks In Advance. |

Yea it's the gear shift lever assembly. It's like a $400 part I believe. There is a DIY guide or thread somewhere that goes over how to fix it.
It's a broken wire that is causing a short and not allowing you to switch into DS. Mine was on it's way out and although I was still able to shift into DS and use M mode, I got intermittent errors on start up. It was covered under CPO for me. |

oh you mean "DS" mode, not DSC (that's dynamic stability control). It's most likely a broken wire inside shifter assembly. it takes about an hour or so and a piece of spare wire to fix yourself.
search for DS mode and you should find a few threads about it. EDIT: here, I'll save you some time http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...=447680&page=2 here is a pic of mine when I fixed it a few months ago. |

yeah, that wire broke - probably from all the movement going back and forth from D to DS. It sort of folds the wire back and forth and weakens it. and it may have even rubbed a little bit I don't know. I basically used some crimp connectors and a little bit of extra wire I had to repair it, then re-wrapped it with a good amount of electrical tape. Last edited by mike-y; 01-10-2012 at 10:11 PM.. |
