To Lip or not to Lip, that is the question???
Hello All,
So I am perplexed over this issue. I really want the velocity V715's and I know they dont have a huge lip. But I wanted to get some peoples opinions. Here are the issues I am hearing with wheels that have a lip: The lip get really dirty fast. They dent much easier. Then dont drive the same as a wheel without the lip. These would be the first wheels I own with a lip, so any input is greatly appreciated. What do you guys think? Definitive |

As for the lip difference there really is not to much different about them to a non lip wheel.
The lips can get dirty but I would not say its any faster than a nonlip wheel. Its just noticeable since there is a lip. The lip denting in my opinion would only be attributed to the manufacturer of the wheel or type since one piece lips can tend to be stronger then three piece also tire sizing can play into that. As far as the driving different I would have to say i have never noticed a difference. I think it all boils down to which brand you buy and who sets them up for you because there are so many things that can make a wheel feel or ride different, most of the reputable brands generally will not have these issues. Hope that helps. |

I like lips on a lot of wheels but wheels like the BBS CH look sooooo hot and dont have a lip. If a rim doesnt have a lip the rims looks bigger also which some people really like.

So it really depends on the wheel that you're eventually going with. Whether or not it was easier/harder to bend the lip, the idea should be that you're going to drive as carefully as possible so as not prevent unnecessary damage to your expensive wheels. The dirt on the lip shouldn't bother you much either - even if that were the case, I'd say that it was a small price to pay to achieve the look that you want. |

i find lip is nice when the wheels are staggered, if theyre not staggered and its the same size lip all around, i personally dont like it.
