Vibrations
Hi all. My 2010 320i seems to be running smoothyl until lastnight. It vibrates when idle, even stronger vibration when I reverse it. The RPM also seems to be fluctuating around 600-700 mark when idle. There also seems to be vibrating at low rpm during driving.
My car has a 40,000km mileage, and I bought it from the BMW dealer over here exactly a year ago. Anyone with a 320i has ever experience this isue? P/S: I got one more year left on my warranty. Hopefully they cover whatever it is that's faulty. Cheers. |

Have the same problem with my 325i and from reading the threads on here, it's a common problem. Solutions that have been posted include
- changing spark plugs - cleaning fuel injector - cleaning carbon build up from the valves (this is likely to be causing the problem). The dealer should be able to help you if they're willing to listen instead of brushing you off as a "know it all" consumer. |

Thanks for the feedback. I've also been reading up on those with similar issues and most fingers are pointing towards the valves, fuel injections and spark plugs. It has nothing to do with the ignition coil though is it?
Im planning to bring it to the dealer this afternoon.I'm just worried it might be something else. There's no error code appearing though,so I'm assuming its not critical. |

Some european models like the 330 are direct injected and they may see carbon build up problems. But for a N52 that's not direct injected, carbon build is the last thing to worry about. @ 40,000km at least. I would check your ignition system, spark plugs, coil packs, battery etc. Try running some fuel injector cleaner through your gas. Clean your MAF sensor with MAF cleaner. |

Okay,I just picked up my 320i this afternoon. The dealer told me that the problem was the coil. To be more specific, the ignition coil (I saw it on the receipt). The whole thing cost them about USD100 inclusive of diagnose test, labour charges. He explain to me that one of the four coils is not working, so they replaced the faulty one only. After test driving it a while ago, my car is back to its beautiful best.
Just a quick question though: Since the coil had just been replaced, do I have to go slow until the breaki-in of the new coil, or is it okay if I put gas to the pedal straight away? |

Yes, I was suprised the error code did not appear as well. But I would assume anything that is physically mechanical wont appear on the errror code, only elctronics and computer stuff on the car.
So far, everything seems to run beautifully well after the fixed-up. Just a quick question though, do I have to wait for the new coil to break-in, or is it okay to put gas on the pedal from the get-go? |
