Time to install some go fast Mods

I have a Stett CAI, and CP with Forge DV's and an ETS intercooler install on the Agenda this weekend. I am going to remove the bumper to make the intercooler install easier. I have removed the bumper before so that process should only take about 15 minutes to remove.

How much time should I expect to set aside?

No DPs to go along with that, or already have some? Are you installing this in your garage or at a shop? By yourself, or with some help?

My ER FMIC took 4-6 hours for my first install (including bumper). I can probably do it in under 2 hours now. Tightening some of the clamps were the toughest parts, wratchets or flex wrenches really helped.

If you have some way to raise the front of your car, you do not need to remove the bumper to install the ETS intercooler.

They will be delivered on Monday but I don't think I will have the patience to do those myself. I hate working in tight spaces and my indy is only charging me $160 for the DP install. I am going to install in my garage.

Yeah he's a good guy. He used to work at my local BMW dealership and opened his own shop. Either he's done plenty of these and it is a breeze to him or he has no idea what he's getting into. Either way, I feel like I'm winning.

Well I'm an extreme perfetionist and like to enjoy/take my time with things. My install did include a charge pipe, bov, and 2 meth nozzels. I find that most people greatly exaggerate their install times as they are usually not paying any attention to the time. Like I said before, subsequent installs would take less than 2 hours.

They added the same expect for the uppercharge pipe. The lower one went along with the intercooler.A shop local to me did the install and I watched them do it,they install 4 a week..The guy was very meticulous with his installs, but then again that's all he does there is install bolt ons for bmw's.

So did a local shop do the install or you? Conflicting statements there. I can understand a shop only taking 2 hours....they are experts, especailly if you say they do 4 a week. I consider myself a hobbiest and only giving the OP a realistic estimate. Worst thing you want to do is not give yourself enough time. Drink some beers, play some tunes, and have fun

ETS intercooler took me about an hr - no bumper removal needed. I have the 5" so no cutting either besides that one factory clamp on inlet pipe to the intercooler.

The 5" should be all you need unless you're running upgraded turbos or something. I asked a while back about going to the 7" but was told it would be pointless...

it's bigger than the factory intercooler. also has more rows of fins etc. also replaces some of the factory piping creating a little better air flow path. the inlet and outlet offset position helps too. the intercooler made a noticeable difference but some people don't realize that it's mostly due to it making the most from the power that you already have rather than "creating" new power. ie not losing it to heat, timing and so on.

ETS 5" without bumper removed, me and friends were able to finish the install in 1 hour. just jack up the car on a jack stand and you will have enough space to work on.

get yourself a flex extension. imho, on german cars, its ignorant to get into any of the tight spaces without at least a 6"+ flex extension.

that one tool makes life so much fucking easier.
