335 recurring fuel system problems...advice?
Looking for advice on how to deal with BMW considering I have had three problems with the fuel system in 6 months. I was aware of the lousy fuel system when I bought a 335 but didn't think it would be more than replacing the HPFP:
I have had my CPO 2008 335xi coupe since April (private party purchase). Two weeks after I got the car the HPFP went. The car had a rough crank on start up, engine was sputtering, check engine light. I never experienced limp mode - the car just shut off while I was driving it and couldn't start it up again. Towed in, new HPFP, problem fixed. Six months later (a couple weeks ago) and I have a similar hard start up, check engine light, sputtering - I burn a quarter tank of gas driving 10 miles to the dealership. They have trouble diagnosing the issue the first day. Day two they replace the Low Fuel Pressure Sensor and I pick up my car - all is well. Today I have the same exact problem on start up. I try to drive it in and the car shuts off on the highway. I try maybe 5 times and get it going in limp mode. I have an engine malfunction message and also a DTC DTS malfunction message. I will update when they diagnose the issue that occurred today. Thanks in advance. |

Not sure what production month your car is, but it seems like they've done 2/3 things of the recall, with the third being injectors. 4/2/07 through 10/31/08 are the production months where the injectors are supposed to be inspected....that seems as if all 2008 models would be affected, as well as late 07's and early '09's.....mine is a 10/06 so only the hpfp was replaced, although I've never had a problem with the fuel pump itself (lots of other problems)...

Thanks John. It was in fact the injectors. They replaced all of the injectors (3) in bank one. Problem solved. Unfortunately, I was back in the shop a week later. I had heard a loud road noise and thought it might be tire wear so I replaced them - noise didn't go away. Some E90 read suggested it may be a bearing. Just got the car back - they replaced the right rear hub and bearing. Covered by CPO.

So maybe his tires are out of balance and caused his bearing and hub to go bad? Or maybe his tires are out of balance and cause all his fuel system components, which fail all the time anyway, to go bad? Just trying to tie your post with OP's situation somehow. I'm not sure I get it. |

The way I read it, it sounds like the problem went away with that solution. |
