How are people keeping the side of the seat from getting worn?

So how is everyone keeping the side of the drivers seat from getting worn from going in and out of the car? I want to handle this issue early on my 335 before it starts to show.

It's to bad they don't make really nice seat covers or special bolster covers for BMW. This problem has been on every BMW I have owned.

get in/out very carefully. I usually hold on to the steering wheel to assist me in getting in/out and not use the side of the seat for assistant.

Also, being skinny help too.

all you can really do is to clean and condition the leather,it makes it look newer. It will help. There isn't really anything else you can do. i wouldn't care that much to get in and out of the car diffrently just becasue of the seat. But it's up to you.

Parking arse in seat facing outward, then turning in to face forward is the easiest for me with the Sport Seats and I see no signs of wear at all after 6 months.

A little expensive, but you will be getting in/out of your car like a man, not like a gay or some girly

Thanks for the fast response, I think something as simple as a tee-shirt over the seat back will do the trick. Ugly... you bet but it will do the job well. I think the first person to design a cover that matches the leather and slips over that bolster will make some money, it could attach with elastic around the back.

Cleaner, don't know if you have the sport seats or not, but this was one factor that helped me decide not to get the sport seats. Yes, they keep you planted firmly in the seat but this feature also makes entry/exit more difficult.

You can always just slide the seat back when exiting. This is especially helpful if you have a MT and usually sit a little closer to operate the clutch.

I think being a little fatter is better actually. Skinny people have more bone than ass which stretches the leather more since the contact area is more pointy thus more pressure over a smaller area. In contrast fatter people have more rounded buttocks thus the weight is distributed over a larger area thus resulting in less stretch marks, also the added fat works for padding your buttocks and ass bones.

I don't like it, but I think bronco pretty much has it nailed.

Deal with wear if and when it happens. Keep seats treated and clean should help.

Keeping them treated helps a lot. I also found that making sure my work badge/blackberry/pager or large cell phone (in the old days) are not on your belt when you get in helps a LOT. I actually put a tear in my e46 seat just from my work badge.

I treat and clean my seats and steering wheel about 2 times a month. So far so good with nearly 15k miles.

Are you Zaino Z-9/Z-10 users happy with the performance of the product? As a recent Zaino buyer I have to say that I am pleased with their products thus far.

old skinny man...

I highly doubt leatherette is safe from wear and tear. It might not wear out as fast as leather but it still wear out.

I use the easy in/easy out method and it helped immensely with my E46 I had for 3 years. I may look like a girlie man getting in and out but I make up for it by driving like a steroid enraged, testoserone rich madman.

Hey, my grandmother's couches had plastic on them for years! Note the flag over to the left of my post.
