The contract hire T&C's don't insist I take it out, however it does say I'm responsible for making up any difference between an insurance payout and the loss value to Mercedes in the event of a total loss (or something like that).

I found these guys to be very competative and their service seems to be very good although I have not made a claim yet!

If your car is supplied via mercedes corporate you need to make sure the level of cover you have in place will meet the total value of the outstanding payments in the event of a total loss - this is what Mercedes will come after you for.
Hence, with my payments at £750+VAT, I needed £30k cover to make sure if I had a total loss on day one of the lease I had sufficient cover to meet the demand Mercedes would place on me (35 months at £900 = £31,500.00)

Used ALA a few times, have it running presently on the Passat CC
I showed BMW the quote from ALA and they virtually matched it (reduced from the £450 'recommended retail price') |

I fired the question of how much cover I need to ALA. Informing them it was a leased car and how much the payments were. you can do this via their " live online help" All the conversations were recorded text wise and a copy sent to my mailbox. That way any mistakes have comeback.
