Should I go meth or COBB S2?
Here's the deal. I currently have GIAC S2, DCI, FMIC, DVs, DPs and stock catback with secondaries on my E92.
I'm either thinking of jumping ship to COBB to run S2 beta and potential custom ATR later down the road OR go with meth so I can run GIAC S2+. As I've read on various threads, there's no point in running meth with COBB S2 but does COBB's S2 match the power CURVE of GIAC S2+? Which way would you go and why? If I do go the meth route, I would get an HSF-2 or HSF-3 kit. |

I'm runing cobb stage 2+ right now. I haven't gotten it dyno'd since the stage 2+ and DP got put on but with stage 1, FMIC and DCI I dyno'd 337hp/374tq on a dyno dynamics. I'm thinking that the stage 2+ and the addition of the DP will put me at 377hp/414tq. I holding out for ATR to be released so I can run meth. My only problem is that the nearest Cobb dealer/tuner is 2.5 hours away. I contacted the dealer yesterday but haven't heard back from them. If I'm not satisfied with them, since they are the only ones remotely close to custom tune the car for meth, I may just switch to procede and PWM meth kit. Do you have a Cobb dealer/tuner near you? If I did, I would certainly stay with Cobb, I love my AP and the tune. Current mods are in sig.

Once ATR hits, you can also make a custom map to run on the street with meth injection. Right now, in sub 50 temps, my car pulls so hard on just Stage 2+ that it scares me sometimes. I honestly think that you should be more than set power wise at least until February. Then hopefully ATR is out and you can go on with the meth injection. |

I would keep GIAC if you are happy with it and use the map switcher to toggle between maps. See if you like it otherwise switch.

to the OP: Stage2+FMIC Aggressive is a very strong pump gas map. With proper conditions, this map can easily do 116-117 mph on a RWD N54, which no other tune can claim at this time. The Cobb race map will be out sooner rather than later. And I guarantee power-wise, you will be quite satisfied. Averaging out my Virtual Dyno runs which range from 415-440 whp through the stock catback and mids, that is pretty much what both piggies are doing on the dyno as well.

Oh yeah S2+FMIC Aggressive won't be usable for me as I'm in California so S2+Sport would be the most I could run. I'm just wondering if the torque on the S2+Sport map is a better than GIAC's S2+ meth.

I'd wait... Cobb is still working on their maps and they will have a meth integration at some point in the future. The minute they come with a hardware specific kit for their tune, all of the off-the-shelf meth kits will loose a lot of their resale price.

octane booster, E85 or race gas. You can run the aggressive map if you really wanted!

you are better off now keeping GIAC and add meth IMHO . Cobb sport map is never gonna give you the same power as GIAC stage 2plus with meth. You cant resell GIAC so the money you put there will be gone.

I think switching to COBB only makes sense when you're getting upgraded turbos. Otherwise the difference (if any) will not be worth it. Alpina_B3_Lux

Are they planning to offer a specific meth kit to use with their race maps? What meth integration options do we really have now (for flash tunes)?

There isn't an integrated meth option for flash tunes at the moment. I hope COBB is able to develop live map switching as a fail safe for their meth kit.
It almost seems like this would be the same setup for stage 3 but specific for upgraded turbos. I wouldn't mind if there's a tiny module in the DME to control the meth kit. |
