JB3 vs Cobb tune?
Hi Guys. I am looking to add a tune to my 2010 335xi. I have really only researched these two tunes. Can someone recommend one over the other? From what I have seen the JB3 is harder to install but will give me more HP. The Cobb tune is a handheld and very easy to install but less HP.
I would like something that is reliable and can be removed if I take the car to the dealer. Everyone that I see on dragtimes.com is using the JB tune, and have watched a few videos of JB vs Cobb 335s and the JB have always seem to win the race (even tho the JB was on a 335i and the Cobb a 335xi, big difference IMO). I drive this car daily and will not be modding it past this tune. I am just looking for that extra oompf. Which would you recommend? Thanks! |

well the jb3 is the old version , you are more referring to jb4 i suppose.
I would recommend the COBB for you considering you just want extra oompf and installation is no brainer. You just connect to obd port. IT all depends what you intend to do with the car and how handy you are around ECU box, connectors etc.

Both are good. It's just determined on what functions you want over the other... Each person has their own personal preference. I'd just do some quick research to see what you feel is best.

Just get the cobb
If all you want is a simple tune for some extra power, go with cobb. If you see yourself modding a bit more intesnsly or just enjoy the dash features of a piggyback then go with a piggyback I have a procede and couldnt be happier. |

The JB3 s no longer sold, so you want to focus your search on the JB4. If you have any questions on the JB4, let me know and I will be happy to offer you any help you need. If you are looking at the COBB Andrew from ar design has some unbelievable deals on it. From what customers tell me he is the guy to go to for COBB stuff..

Cobb. We haven't sold a piggyback in months - for good reason.
And unlike most vendors we actually stock the stuff here, in house. Not drop shipped from some warehouse

OP-yeah you can make more power on the JB4 using meth probably, on pump gas COBB is more powerful under the curve and SOLID. plus safer...
I have both btw.

I think the OP needs to do some research and decide what works best for him. If I were the OP and I was only going to keep the car stg 1, like he said (wait till the mod bug hits), I would get the cobb just because its easy as hell to install and take out, and gives some good power. You don't have to worry about breaking a clip or messing with the ecu so bmw would never know your even tuned.

The simplicity of the Cobb install/un-install process combined with perfect AFR and low end torque advantage its a no brainer for a daily driver. Seriously spend some time searching and reading this forum about this debate and you will see where everyone is heading to now.
