Light next to Xenon on E90 LCI
Hi Guys,
I've tried searching on this and can't find an answer that clears up my question. Can anyone tell me what the light is next to the Xenon bulb in an E90 LCI and what it does (not the angel eye, but the bulb inside the angel eye furthest to the left in the picture below)? It seems to light up sometimes, but only on one side - is it some sort of cornering light? Typically that spot has been for high-beams, but since the E90 with HID has bi-xenons, I don't believe that is what it is used for. Any thoughts? TIA, Rich |

Could be the corning light that pops on at slow speed when the blinker is on, because like you said, they are bi-xenon so only the one xenon bulb works for both high and low beams. Might also be the adaptive headlights? where they help see around corners and such while driving?
Maybe at night have someone go stand in front while you put the blinker on and turn the wheel and see what happens, my money is on that light turning on. Oh, and the inside may be used for the "flash-to-pass" where you just flash the high-beams...think I remember reading about that once. Last edited by raceyBMW; 11-21-2011 at 02:18 PM.. |

that is a turn/cornering light. It lights up with whatever side the blinkers are activated. Ex: when you're making a left hand turn and have your left blinker on, the left side will turn on and vice versa.

Both turn on also when you put your car in reverse... and I always wonder why?? Like you need more light on the front when you're backing up. Oh by the way, it only works when you have your headlight on "Auto" which also activates the Adaptive Headlight. If you want it turned off, just turn your headlight to "on" and they won't active.

The blinker does not need to be activated for the cornering lights to come on, they will function independent of this.

I guess I just always have my blinker on when turning...
So the flash to pass uses the xenon bulb still? Interesting, because I didn't think they could react fast enough since there is an internal shield that has to be flipped up for the high beams to come on. |
