Snap On spark plug socket $33
Instead of worrying about low supply or a shitty Chinese knockoff that may let bits of broken socket fall into your engine, get a real Snap On socket for a whopping $33. Item number S9714MK.

Good find! I will order one ASAP.
Btw for those over looking a good quality tool such as this one...read up on my spark plug DIY disaster thread. Broken magnet pieces from crappy made-in-china-but-sounds-like-German "schweben" spark plug socket caused many sleepless nights |

On all the forums I've ever been on before, I've never seen so many spark plug socket threads than on here, lol.
Why is it so complicated. Step 1 - Buy the $9 socket from sears Step 2 - Take a long screw driver and knock out the magnet inside the socket Step 3 - Remove spark plug Step 4 - Now how do I pull the socket out without the magnet! OMG!!! Step 5 - Take the coil pack and push it back into the housing and use the snug fit of the coil pack to pull out the spark plug!! I can't be the only one to have figured this out. Save yourself about $25 and buy yourself some other tools for the future. |

Same works with the Schwaben one. I am not sure what the fuss is about... pop out the magnet and you are good to go.
You can use a hose or the coil to pull out the plug. |

hmmm, I have a cheapy with a rubber insert (instead of magnet). Works fine, but sometimes stays on the plug when installing so I have to pull slowly. Hose works good too... I don't like using the coil, cause I think I'm wearing the boot out.

But, when it's a low impact, very rare use item such as a specialty socket, I can be convinced to go the budget route. Like my impact tools, I wouldn't buy sears brand or some cheapies, I try to stick to IR and other quality products because you will see a world of difference with this. Overall, a socket like this isn't a product I could justify the extra cost on. Just my 2 cents, to each their own. |
