Twin Plate Clutch for 6MT
Currently in prototype phase right now, but I just thought I'd share with you guys what we've been up to for the N54 over here And before anyone asks. Yes, the manifold is coming soon, very soon. Last edited by Evolution Racewerks; 11-16-2011 at 03:28 AM.. |

I ran a double-disk clutch (a Clutchmaster FX650) on my supercharged '99 M Coupe.
Couple of advantages of design. The disks are easy to replace when they wear and you can get them in different materials depending on use of the car (1/4 mile, road race, etc). Also, the design eliminates the torque straps -- a weak point in BMW clutches which often break due to poor rev-matching on downshifts. Probably not much of an issue for the dragstrip, but a big deal for road racing. Really glad ER is coming out with this product. Neil |

Too many questions! It's a teaser thread! I'm sure they'll give you all the answers you need in just a bit. Only thing I'd be concerned with is the small dowels used to hold the steel plates. Something more like what OS Giken uses would probably hold up a little better. They have rectangular blocks that bear the load. OS Giken does not, however, make any N54 stuff, so you can get a jump on the market.
Otherwise it looks great! You guys make some nice stuff!

# 1 question IMO should be how the clutch will feel and engage on the street..
ACTs Street Disc Clutch can hold up to 440ft-lbs but is still somewhat civil on the street and uses the same friction material as OEM I am curious to where in this range ER's clutch will fall |

The clutch is in prototype phase right now so I don't want to list out any hard facts only to have it invalidated when we revise the clutch. Also, we're open to all inputs regarding what the community would like, so fire away
