check control loss of engine power

Got this error symbol today...says engine problem! loss of power....what could this be? all i have is procede and DCI

Probably a 2A87 Vanos code, I'm betting, especially if you have 40k or more miles. Read your code.

i didnt throw a code...i just have that symbol in the check engine control

That thing doesn't show up without some sort of codes. You can check with your laptop connected?

Plug in your laptop and read the code. It's going to be impossible to tell what happened from the engine malfunction light alone.

ahhh ok i see...ya i didnt get a service engine light or anything just that symbol...i will check to see if it finds any codes after work

thats the LIMP mode which is triggered always with another code. It just shut down the boost control . no turbo power.

I checked for codes...i do not have any codes...just that symbol randomly coming up on my dash screen...my car seems to run fine...what could be making this symbol randomly come on and off?

It's likely that the code was automatically cleared before it was read. To prevent this from happening, turn OFF Canclear in the user adjustable menu and try to trigger that code/limp again. Then go ahead and read the code as it will tell you exactly what needs to be addressed.

i unfortunately had my laptop stolen and haven't updated my procede since I got it so I dont have the command center using the cruise control...any other options?
