Nicer noises
I have a 2005/6 330i and while it sounds pretty good (of course), I am considering improving the noise - I don't want a fulll-race roar, just something a little more rorty than standard - I don't want to upset She Who Sometimes Drives It.
In the past on this forum I have seen references to the BMW factory sports system as being pretty good, but has anyone tried other good aftermarket brands such as Remus on six cylinder models, preferably the 3 litre. How do they sound? Cost comparison between factory and non-factory? |

Installed my eisenmann full exhaust with cone filter intake last friday, thought it would be SUPER loud but it isn't on idle, our n52 engines aren't M's but on DS mode you get that backfire and race sound when you gun it. A little deep rumble on P but I'm sure after a couple hundred miles or 1000's the exhaust will break in.
I had the same concern as you make sure the wife and baby do not get irritated by it. On the freeway doing steady speed = 0 drone. During light throttles you hear it (windows up) but no cabin vibration, barely notice the tones. Only people on the outside will notice the deep/high sounds. Still waiting on my day off to make a video. Gas wise haven't gone through my 1st full tank but I drive grandma style, only occasional high revs but still looking at at least 400mpg, on stock 420-430mpg average. Next exhaust if I had another car would be Akrapovic. |
