Is it good practice to....
So, here is my routine when running my car in general.
Start her up, wait about 30 seconds or so, then slowly drive, keeping the RPMs below 3000 until i see the oil temp gauge start to trickle down to 160-180F, then i put her into Sport mode (i have an auto) and then get a little more aggressive with the pedal. Im under the impression if i let the oil and engine warm up a little before i go hard, its better in the long run. thoughts? does it matter? tks all. |

i dont do a warm up at start, but i do keep RPMs under 3k until i see the oil temp reach past 180. Once it gets to 180-200, watch out!

Sounds like a plan....I start the car get the seat belts etc squared away then drive under 3K till I have the oil temp up. Only difference in I push the sport button as soon as I shift into "D".

That is not a good idea as DS mode revs the engine at higher rpms and thats nkt what yoh want , and tranny oil still hasn't warmed up either. Best to drive in d mode

The DCT with the sport button pushed does not go over 3K unless you have a very sloppy boot.
Moving the shift lever left over to sport mode will raise the shifts a bit more & sport mode + sport button even more with harder clutch engagement. M will hold the gear to red line unless you shift manually beforehand.

My Routine is Start Car, wait until rpms are down to idle, then drive and shift around 2500rpm. once oil gauge is at proper temp then i let her rip.
