Confusion: N52 intake for e92 328i
So I'm getting more confused the more I read about any intake mods for my N52 engine.
First, I started looking at aFe and Injen. Then, I found a thread about an OEM European air box with a K&N filter. Now, I'm thoroughly confused. I suck at searching things (I tried for this topic). Is this an ongoing debate? Do people with aFe CAI's actually see a drop in performance? Is the $400 OEM Euro air box worth it (I looked all over eBay and Craigslist)? Halppp please. *I'm not looking for an OEM or GruppeM because as nice as they are, I can't justify spending that much for a 328i. I'd rather save and buy a 335 or M later later later *Oh, and I have a year left on my warranty Last edited by thedm; 11-05-2011 at 02:28 AM.. |

there are also factory performance intake and gruppeM intake.
both expensive, but atleast some guy tested gruppeM with good result. here the review for gruppeM with dyno chart. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showth...t=gruppeM+dyno

Thanks, but aren't they both like 1000+? It's out of my budget

go for ecstuning.com euro box with K&n cone filter, that's the european vers. of their performance intake they use cone, in the US flat panel.
BMW shouldn't have a problem with euro box cuz that's european OEM but I haven't tried. I installed gruppe-m rep intake with full exhaust eisenmann yesterday, still having fun revving but gotta find the sweet spots for intake gains. |

if you wanna save money going for 335 or M3, i would probabaly start saving now.... just not worth the money if you not planning on keeping the car.
reason why i bought factory intake is cuz i still got 3+ year of warranty and i am planning keeping the car for 7 or 8 years. also good reason getting factory intake besides the warranty is its resale value, most people pay good money for an used one. many aftermarket intake drops its value rather deep....

Oh I see. Actually I'm not planning on a 335 anytime soon. I'm gonna stay with the 328 for a while. I just didn't wanna put unnecessary money into it. I think I'm getting the euro air box. I'm probably looking at keeping the car around 7-8 years myself. Thanks guys!

CAI = you'll lose power.
Drop in (K&N, AFE) = small gain Gruppe/Eurobox = easier removal
