Should I remove the TPMS when I sell my stock wheels?
Hi everyone,
I did a search but couldnt' find the answer I'm looking for. I am selling my stock 16" OEM 156 wheels and run flat tires from my 2007 BMW 328i sedan this coming friday. I will be putting on some brand new OEM 162's with TPMS and run flats. 1. My question is, can I or should I remove the TPMS from these stock wheels before I give them to the buyer? 2. I read that the TPMS for these OEM 16" wheels uses a "sensor" and a "longer valve stem" in order for this TPMS to work. 3. I dont care about getting the valve stem off the wheels, but if I could use the "sensors" somehow or sell them, I believe that would be better than just giving them to the buyer since he'll be putting these 16" wheels/tires onto his older model BMW 5 series which doesn't have this TPMS function. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

I could be wrong, but are 2007 328i wheels the proper offset to fit a 5-series? If not, then yes, you could make some bucks selling the sensors/stems. You would, of course, have to break the bead on the tire in order to remove the sensors from the rim. I'm sure a tire shop would do this for a nominal fee. Even figuring that in you could still probably make $100 or so...

Is the sensor "inside" of the rim? Or is it "outside" on the rim itself where I can just remove it myself? |
