dyno ct awd jb4 experience?
Does anyone know a show in CT that can tune my car on a dyno with a jb4 piggyback system using meth? I am looking for someone who is very experienced with jb4 and has access to a awd dyno.

There is nothing to tune on the JB4. Just run the appropriate map for your mods.
Map 0: Stock bypass. This is the only map you may use the OBDII diagnostic port with. Set to map 0 before dropping off for service, using a BT, etc. Map 1: 13psi (suggested for most stock applications) Map 2: 14.5psi (suggested for those with downpipes and 93 octane) Map 3: Progressive meth mapping with flow sensor failsafe. See guide to enable. Meth use isn't supported/suggested without a flow sensor and map 3. Map 4: Stock map w/ CAN active. Soon to be our economy map. Map 5: Alpha autotuning map. Boost ranges between 11-16psi based on your cars octane, conditions, and modifications. Map 6: Custom tuning map. Map 7: 16.5psi race map. 100 RM2 octane required. Use this link for more info: |

You can create a custom map and you can change your meth map. I want someone to be able to Dyno the car and make sure the timing is good ect and then adjust anything that needs adjusting. It can be a plug and play system but also a lot of room for tuning.

There are no "tuners" outside of BMS themselves for the JB4. Run the map that fits your mods and log it. Then send the log to BMS for feedback.
If you wanted a tune where a tuner can adjust boost fuel and timing according to your modifications and focus on the details you should have went with a custom flash tune or waited for COBB ATR/protune. |

LOL That is funny. No, not every tuner has the understanding of the software of the JB4, so you are wrong there. Moreover, the JB4 cannot advance ignition or reduce unless it has a cps module (which only reduces), and even that is bandaid because you have minimal resolution of control and as you play with CPS you also play with fueling and valve control. Which by the way leads to reduced performance but that is for a different discussion. Consequently you cant hit AFR targets with this sort of methodology, atleast not on the onset of boost at low RPM. Lets face it, its a glorified boost controller with a few bells and whistles. What the OP is asking was not its intended design, its not a full tune. All the OP can do is log what he has and play with the arbitrary values within the tune to clean up ignition drop outs and increase boost. I look forward to your next response wise one. |

No disrespect, but that is very misleading to say it has the adjustability just like any other tune.

i understand jb4 is not a full tune etc, but i am looking for a good dyno shop that can dyno my car read my results and make some adjustments via jb4 usb if needed. lets not argue about how much it can be adjusted but rather who in CT area can make adjustments properly. its hard to believe terry from bms is the only one that understands how the interface works and is the only one that can make safe adjustments to the meth map (3) and map 6. just point me in the direction of a good dyno shop and tuner

you won't be finding a shop that will satisfy those needs - have you looked at the software yourself? unless the shop has their own n54 with a jb4 you'll get blank stares from them.

Just hit a local AWD dyno, there a few in CT, and tweak the tune yourself. You can really only check for knock and maybe add some boost if your lucky. |

I know there are a few things you can change with map 3 for meth and i would like to have someone knowledgeable to work with. I also do not understand map 6 as it looks like it runs meth too and is a customized map. anyone from the tri state area that i can meet up with that can help me do some logs review them and make changes based on them?

With meth all you need to adjust on the JB4 is the meth additive. And it will auto tune down if you make it too aggressive. Just do a couple logs and send them to myself or BMS for advice.
And LOL to those who think the JB4 isn't a full tune. Boost, fuel, and advance are adjusted not to mention the best CAN features in the business. Mike |

As several of us have already told you including 2 vendors you are seeking the impossible. The above link are the options of dynos in connecticut. Get on the phone with some of them, EFI logic is popular in the subie world. You will quickly realize none of those dynos in your area have experience with this fashion of "tuning". Majority if not all focus on flash tuning and other platforms. The beauty of the Jb4 is its simplicity. Plug in and play. If you seek more performance out of your setup alter the map and log. You can only add so much boost until you knock and at that point you know you've achieved all you can get. Last edited by FastBimmerN54; 11-04-2011 at 02:12 AM.. |
