Replace underseat woofers with another size speaker
I am pretty sure my underseat woofer is gone. I see that a lot of people use the SWS-8 however I had a trunk sub so I do not need another subwoofer in there. Has anyone used a 6" or 6.5" to replace the stock one for better midbass? Any idea of a decent one that will fit in such a shallow space?

I have a 12" trunk sub and have used 6" Morel's underseats for mid bass with good results, but I now use 8" Morel's underseats for mid bass with great results.
Go with the larger mid bass woofer if you can and then you can bring more of the lower mid-bass frequencies upfront and in the cabin. Get with VP Electricity about a set up that will work for you. Last edited by jjmanda; 11-02-2011 at 04:04 AM.. |

Even a 6" would have to be on the shallow side to fit so you might as well look at a shallow 8 to get the most midbass in the cabin as you can. The SWS is great for dedicated midbass duties so you'd probably be better off looking at something like the Jehnerts or similar. Morel has several variants of shallow 8" or 9" that can fit but they all require a bit of work to get in that space. Its not a simple drop in like the SWS or the Jehnerts.
