Headlight Sealant

I just refinished the headlights on a car using the 3M restoration kit. Now I'm thinking I should apply some sort of sealant to the headlights to protect them in the future. Does anyone know of a product I could buy locally(Autozone/oreilly) that can do this?

Order some clear Lamin-x. In the meantime, put some wax on them.

yep!, but no on the wax...they will haze over faster due to the chemicals and product in the wax, at least thats what I have been told

you want to coat them, not just wax them for best results...

lamin-x is supposed to be good, so is another product that I'd have to get the name of from another detailer who has a whole pro system for headlight restoration with the UV curing lights and all...

+1 on the lamin-x or similar type of clear bra material. it will protect your headlights from pitting as well. mine still look brand new.

clear film is a good option as well to protect rock rash and chips! good call, plus those are easily removed so you can clean and re-install a new, fresh one!

Clear automotive lens plastics are coated with a UV resisast coating. You've effectively removed that coating so the lens will haze/yellow more quickly than before so you are correct in wanting to protect it.

The only real protection will be given by a clear bra type substance however you must be aware that it is technically illegal to use this on your headlights or taillights.

Me? I'd use something like Lamin-x and replace as it becomes damaged or dirty.

you can put some opti coat. it's $ but u can use it to coat other stuff too. Wont protect u from chips but ull have long lasting protection from them turning yellow or cloudy.

Here's a cheap alternative which seems to work even better than the Opti-coat. I'm about to try this on my Lexus.

Spar Urethane & Mineral Spirits mixture:

yeah my friend experimented with a few methods..mineral spirits/urethane combo was one of them, but he had a hard time with it..it was leaving streaks. So he stopped using it. He also applied some clearcoat for another customer..came out nice but that was a lot of work, most ppl didnt wanna spend the money for it.. Now he uses opticoat, it goes on super easy and lasts for years. And he can do a ton of cars with 1 tube.
