Changing rims

Sorry for the newb question, but when changing rims on the e92, let's say for snow tires, do I have to bring the car to the dealer? Just wonderin cuz I heard there's tire pressure monitoring systems on the car...

Are you saying you want to change to a new set of wheels equipped with snow tires? Or do you want to change the tires on your current wheels to snow tires?

If you are changing to a new set of wheels, you need to get new sensors and put them in the wheels so it doesn't throw an error code on reading tire pressure.

Hey thanks for the reply. I meant changing to a new set wheels equipped with snow tires. So do I get these sensors from the dealer?

You would have to search on that. I don't have an E92 so I personally don't know the cheapest place you can get them at.

You can get the sensors from www.tirerack.com. PM Gary@TireRack he should be able to help you. I didn't buy TPMS sensors because I just switched them out from my OEM wheels for $10 a wheel. You can go this route as well instead of spending $50 per sensor (I think that's how much it costs, I forget). Go to TireRack and search for recognized shops in your area and it'll say whether they can do TPMS or not.

Long story short, don't go to your dealer for anything except servicing and maintenance.
