Gruppe-M Rep Review and Install Tips
First Impression::rocks:
This is the first real performance mod I've done, and in addition to the Lux 2.0, my favorite expenditure so far. The car is a different animal with this intake system. Throttle response is crisper, acceleration at higher rpm's is better... butt dyno.... who knows, who cares. This intake looks and sounds mean. Let's get to some details: 1. Packing Quality: Came in a cardboard box taped well, and tied with orange string. Inside, everything was well-wrapped with bubble wrap. The K&N refresher was in its original box, and the filter was also packed in its own box. The rest of the material was neatly organized in the box, and easy to find. 2. Parts Quality: This is no plastic "made in China" (apologies for the generalization) replica intake. The CF weave, while likely not to the standards of the connoissuer, looks good to me. The internal tubing is made of good, heavy metal that fits well together. All screws and ring clamps were included. 3. Instructions Quality: If I could read Chinese I'd be able to better evaluate. The pictures are so-so, but helpful. I've included some install tips later in this post. 4. Install: It takes a little while to put everything together before actually fitting the intake into the car. Take your time doing this. Some tips: 1. The part which will house the MAF needs to be fitted so that the MAF sits closer to the housing. 2. Loosen the ring clamps A LOT before trying to put the pieces together. 3. Two spacers are included in the kit, which fit under the MAF when installing in the new intake. BOTH spacers are necessary for a good/functional fit. (I took some pics and will attach them tomorrow) 5. Fitment: A little hit/miss. Patience and a steady hand are necessary. It's a tight fit, particularly the K&N filter, which barely clears the headlight adapter. The key is to rotate the filter inside the housing so it is in the "upper passenger-side" portion of the housing. Meanwhile, you have to keep the MAF in a functional position. This took some finnagle-ing on my part, but I eventually got it to sit right. The front edge of the housing is not as form-fitting as the real Gruppe-M, but it doesn't look bad at all. The only areas where fitment is not the best is the at the ram scoop, where the plastic pins that point down don't fit, and where the OEM stock part between the ram scoop and the intake housing fit together. Not really big issues, but clearly not the best fit. 6. Driving::rocks: :rocks: :rocks: :rocks: :rocks: I'll say it again::rocks: Low rpm lag: gone throttle response: improved acceleration: improved sound: Oh Hell Yes. It has sound. Music. Beautiful Music. At 2500 rom, she begins to sing. At 3500, she growls. At 4500, she thunders. You can feel a bass growl vibrate your feet on the pedals. Turn off the radio, open the windows, and drive thru every tunnel and overpass you can find. If you are considering this intake.... GET IT!

I'm using replica GruppeM for almost 2 years so far.
Maybe I was the first one here who got the rep. GrouppeM. For the performance, I'm very happy with it. However, after using it for a year or so, this winter, cracks were occured on all over the CF part. I end up painting them in same color as my car.

They have same (or just tiny difference) performance. and the price is almost 1/3 of original. get yourself a replica GrouppeM and get something else like light bulbs, ipod retrofit, etc. It really not so bad.

some pics i promised canucklion....
as you can see, the CF finish is pretty good. The egdes are not rolled the way the real GM is, but it's a subtle difference. I've had the intake in for two weeks now, an have no complaints.
