confused about some 1/4 miles times in the STICKY

I was looking threw the 1/4 mile times and i thought our cars modded were faster than the times posted

I saw a couple of times in the 13's with a JB3 or JB4. Stock these cars do a 13.2? mabye 13.3?

Then a few times in the high 12's with a JB4 dp's dci and meth

I thought with JB4 meth and dci and DP's you would be in the low 12s maybe high high 11's

i know that driver error and skill plays at into the times at the track but i was suprised at how slow some 1/4 mile times are

MTs for this car get terrible traction/60' times which have a huge detriment to your ET. Also, a lot of people on this forum have a very inflated perception of what their car should run because of a few cars that run great. If you want a more accurate idea of power, look at the trap speed, not ET.

The number one thing that determines 1/4 mile times is ambient temperature and weather. Without stating this, those times posted, are useless. For example a stock car can run 13.3 in 40 degree temps, and 13.6 in 70 degree temps. So, if a modded car ran 13.3 in 70F temps, it may be the same ET, as the guy who ran stock, in 40 degree weather, but the modded guy still has 30 more horse power, and in the same temps will still run 3 tenths quicker. Every ten degrees ambient is approximately equal to +/-.1 secs.

On street tires your typical Tune/Meth/Dci can reach 12.3-12.6. Squeezing out 11's on that setup is extremely hard but I wouldnt say impossible if it has drag radials/slicks.

The "better" track runs are posted on www.dragtimes.com
