Broken part from engine compartment. Anyone know what this is?

I had the Procede installed at Bimmerfest by Shiv and the crew. I had to remove it last night for a dealer visit, and noticed this part sitting in the small compartment where you remove the covers next to the air sensor or whatever it is. This is while looking at the front of the car, on the right side. Anyone have a clue what this part is for? It seems to carry a wire or something of that nature.

Nevertheless the Procede is awesome!

Any ideas will help

Thanks

Just take it to the dealer with you. They should know what it is.

I'd just take the piece with me to the dealer when you take the car.

Im pretty sure it's the sliding lock for the ECU cover...it's easily broken if people yank on it...

Looks like one of the tabs that hold the wiring harness to the bulkhead cover. It'll break off if you pull it off at an angle. naughty naughty [borat]

Looks to me like the clip that is stuck to the windshield during transport that holds a magnetic pen used for turning the battery transpo-switch on and off.

Isn't it the horsepower clamp?

I wonder if you broke it, or Shiv's team?

He is. It does look a lot like that especially with the double sided tape on the back of the flat section.

Cheers

i found the same piece in my engine compartment except it had an extra electronic pen of some sort, took it to the dealer they said it belonged to them as it was used for the vehicle's lpo test or something.

///matt was correct. this clip is attached to the windshiled and holds the magnetic pen that connects or disconnects the battery switch before the vehicle is pdi'd.
