Stoptech SportSlot/Stainless lines/Street pads questions

I am looking into a replacement set of brakes, don't want to spend the money on a BBK....

Stoptech SportStop slotted rotors, Stoptech stainless lines and Stoptech street pads with 550 fluid.
http://www.stoptech.com/Products/sta...upgrades.shtml

Questions:

1) will the SportSlot rotors rust in time, or are they coated like the Zimmerman?

2) I heard that the Stoptech street pads were good and no noise - can someone confirm?

3) I heard that Motul 550 fluid will last 3 years, and if I got Motul 600 I would have to change the fluid every year. Can someone confirm?

Anybody running with this combo - seemsl like a good compromise and Harold likes the rotors/pads and the lines.... so I don't think I can go wrong.

I wouldn't want the rust though... I am in Canada with all the salt on the road.

1) All Rotors will eventually rust. Just like the cheaper suspension that is not made out of stainless steel is coated but those always rust too.

2) Don't have personal experience with the pads but knowing stop tech products I am sure they are good.

3) Any type of brake fluid should be replaced at least every two years. The Motul 600 can last you two years but what do you do with your car? If you track it, replace your fluid every year regardless. Also if you ever boil the brake fluid, flush the system right after with new fluid.

I have this exact set up but with Bimmer World SS lines and ATE TYP200 fluid. No noise so far, I'll wait after the bed in to comment on performance, I'm sure I won't be disappointed!

1) will the SportSlot rotors rust in time, or are they coated like the Zimmerman?

All rotors will rust eventually as they are exposed to heat and cooling cycles. The coatings come off from the same cycles.

2) I heard that the Stoptech street pads were good and no noise - can someone confirm?

Most street pads are noise free when install and bed in properly. Stoptech is no exception.

I'll jump in here, I've personally had the time to test the Stoptech Street Performance Pads. They are great, didn't make noise actually didn't dust as much as I thought they would for performance wise. They are designed to be good enough on the track and yet still quite usable on the street. They are a great pad (I prefer them over the Axxis Ultimates and the Hawk HPS).

+1 on Motul 600 (great fluid will make a noticeable difference)

I've used the Stoptech street performance pads on the track. They do have better heat capacity but they are not true track pads so they do fade. They have the same feel as stock. If you go easy on the brakes they'll do just fine. Also, do one cool down lap in the middle of a session. Slotted rotors will help cut the pad and get rid of the hot gases from the pad but they do eat your pad quicker.

I have heard that the initial bite when cold on the stoptech street pads isn't as nice as stock.

What after market pads will give the best cold bite and be better than stock?

Really? They advertise excellent cold and hot bite Maybe E90pilot or someone who has these pads can comment?

Hi CVC, My source is dzenno... he also said that once the warm up, they are excellent.

I just wanted to see if maybe the cool carbon's are better for this or another brand.

If I want to track my car occasionally, what products should I choose?

DECIDED:
1) Stoptech stainless steel lines
2) Motul 600 fluid
3) Stoptech street pads
4) new brake sensos

The question is - what Rotors?

1) Stoptech Sport slot - vs Stoptech PowerSlot - what will I notice by going with the less expensive Sportslot rotor?

2) What other vendors products do I compare a SportSlot too?
(I was thinking a R1 Concepts standard, vs SportSlot)

3) What other vendors products to I compare a PowerSlot rotor too?
(I was thinking a DBA 4000 series rotor, R1 concepts Premium)

Any advice guys, I have to get replacements pretty soon.

My vote is for Z4 35is rotors. Two piece and OEM

You cannot go wrong with Cool Carbon pads, they offer extremely consistent performance characteristics while some pads have characteristics that will vary with both ambient and operating temperature changes. Let me know if you have any questions!

What year of Z4is rotors do you get for a 2008 335? Tischler carry those? Does anybody know what they cost?

Thanks

Definitely the 35is's
OEM, ligher, the DBA is a single piece, the the 35is's are 2 piece. My guess is the 35is's weight about 4lbs less which will make a huge difference in acceleration and especially cornering.
