Loud interference noise when using iPhone 4s with aux jack for car stereo

Hi,

Today I finally got around to trying to play music in my car from the iPhone 4S using a 1/8" jack to the aux input that's in the arm rest. I have used this EXACT SAME setup for a few years now with my 3gs and it worked great. However, with the 4S there is terrible loud noise with this same setup. It makes listening to music UNBEARABLE!

Reading around the apple forums it seems this is impacting many people. Honda owners reported however they were not affected which could bring credence to Apple's claims that the issue is with the Audio Connector Kit Firmware.

I'm not an expert on Audio Connector Kit Firmware and am wondering if this could be the issue? If so, is it something the dealer will upgrade for for free? Has anyone else contacted their BMW dealer about this?
