If you leave the Cobb AP plugged in, does it turn off when car goes to sleep?

I tested it yesterday, and locked the car, and came back 15 minutes later, and the AP was still on, along with the light on the Start/Stop button (which usually goes out after a couple of minutes I think).

Does leaving the AP plugged in not let the car go to sleep? I park my car in the garage at home and work, so rarely need to unplug the gauge for safety reasons (being stolen). I'd prefer not to have to plug it in and unplug the cable as that's too much wear on the clip at the AP I feel.

The OBD II port is (normally) powered even when the ignition is off. If you connect an OBD adapter and leave it, it will drain the battery in a couple of weeks.

Thanks, that makes sense now.

What about leaving it in overnight? Would that be harmful?

Every day I turn on the car, though I might only drive 15 to 20 miles if I just go to work and back.

You do not want to leave it plugged in. I have worked with alot of OBD scan tools on a variety of vehicles and leaving it in overnight will ultimately lead to weak batteries.

Edit: If it is just one night, you may be able to get away with it if your batteries are in good health. But why do it?

In such case it is OK to leave it in. Any extra discharge by the unit will be well compensated for during you normal driving. I had a plug in for almost a year and used the car most days. Then I put the car aside for a couple of weeks since I rode motorcycle during a warm period. The battery was quite weak after this. The same situation happened once more and this time the battery was absolutely dead. I bough a new battery and thought it was strange since the first battery was only a few years old and of high quality. I did some measurements found that the OBD adaper had some current draw with car turned off, but don't remember the exact power consumption.

The screen on the AccessPORT can also get burn in when left on for a long time. We would recommend unplugging it when left in the car.
