Procede 10/18 beta - Drag Results

Setup:
I ran the following times:
  • 12.3@116mph - 7/29 maps (93 + MS109) @ 18-19psi
  • 12.2@118mph - 10/10 beta maps on 93 octane 18psi
  • 12.1@119-120 - 10/18 beta maps on MS109 - @ only 16.x psi (didn't need race gas)

Attached are a couple timeslips (I ran many times at each of the above configurations) associated data log. Car is 3695lbs with me in it.

I'm very pleased with the trap speed, especially running through the stock exhaust. The power is unreal. On the street, a 3rd gear roll-on at or before tq peak = massive wheelspin! The power delivery is super smooth, as is the meth transition (seamless). The biggest difference that I can feel with the new maps besides the increase in power and smoothness, is the awesome improvement of post-shift timing. Every gear just keeps pulling.

I plan to go back when the 2-step kit arrives, and hopefully get into the 11's

What kind of tires are you using? That's a great 60'. I assume this is at SAR?

I am running a set of used BFG drag radials, but I can't get them to hook (this is SAR). 1.9 isn't good with a DR. I would be satisfied with low 1.7's. If I can't get these to hook with the 2-step, I'm ditching them for some ET street radials.

The above times are from just rolling-out of the line. If I launch harder they just spin. I ran with the stock runflats with the older maps and did 12.9's all day(116.x), having to let up constantly. Now, traction is even worse.

I guess these are some good problems to have

Great runs. I need to go to a strip one of these days.
Did you give up on your intake project?

Thanks! Yeah, I put my Mr 5 intake on indefinite hold as the meth pump is in tr same spot where the CAI would go. The kit is so nice and self-contained that I didn't want to bother mounting it elsewhere. The beauty of meth is that the IATs really aren't effected much by the DCI.

I still have my NIB tubing for the intake taking up space.

Great results!! How is your clutch holding? Mine is almost toast, I need to replace it before I hit the track. Times slips like that make me excited nice work. With NLS you should make 11's for sure.

Very nice! Did I read correctly that the highest traps were only running 16psi with the new agressive maps?

Gonna have to give these a try when they come out

Clutch is good so far. I have 37k on the car.

Bone stock stage 3 maps! It is a very good OTS tune.

Yes, at the track I only hit 16.xpsi as the revs stay high. I was shifting at around 6300rpms. On the street, the boost is higher in the low rpms, but you are never there in a racing scenario. Timing is up there, as you can see.

Thanks for the feedback.

Great numbers. I'm turning 1.9's on stock 18" run flats. So hopefully you can get the DR's hot enough to hook up and get your 60' times down.

I was run the Stg2 maps last Friday because I'm running stock down pipes. I was having some issues with my PWM shutting down shifting into second, but I think I found the issue. I ran the meth line under the back cover tied to the shock tower braces. I think the line is getting too hot as I'm waiting to stage and it's vapor locking the line. So it sprays out of the hole, then shuts down until the pump can reprime, then the meth kicks back in and the car pulls hard through third and fourth before I shut down at the end of the 1/4. Even with the car pulling in map1 through 2nd gear, my trap speed was 114. My best time for the night was a 12.5. The tracks where I reside are shutting down for winter, so we'll have to see if my wife buy's me a set of down pipes for XMas if I can break into the 11's next year with run flats.

Wedge: I don't doubt that you can cut 1.9's on the RFTs: that's the beauty of the AT. 6MT guys can't do that unfortunately. With the RFTs, shifting into second causes the car to spin for most of the gear. Its the price we pay to row gears

Definitely get some DPs during the break!

Gocha.
I like the other benefits of the intake besides the effect on IAT. I have a few ideas on how to keep the intake and install meth but I most likely won't get a meth kit until Spring. I will definately share what I figure out then.

+1 on this... still have all the Mr.5 parts sitting in the garage... the space challenges are even worse on a 135i
