Good look. Wish it was cheaper though. AA tune is first on list.

^ yea same, and it rarely goes on sale and there's no option of a group buy.. AA tune will def give more bang for ur buck, but the euro intake will help the car breathe better and be slightly more lively

Yeah, I was originally hoping for a group buy as well. I got myself the Euro Box and the K&N. Planning to put it all together with the PE and AA tune.

hurricane56...Where did you get your Euro Box and the K&N, if you don't mind me asking? I tried ECS tuning, again, on the group buy and NADA.

I just purchased the Euro Box and K&N from ECS at retail, they're in stock now.

I did express interest in the group buy a few months ago, but after the organizer didn't get a positive response from ECS, I put in order in and waited. Hopefully I'll get mine next week.

Do you know if the Euro Box does any gains for you or is it more of a sound mod? I heard that the box provides more volume, the filter is round (more volume through it than the U.S. panel version), and hence more performance. Can you share any thoughts on this?

That's a good question. A member by the name of "CobraMarty" tested the Euro Intake in comparison to the stock 328 intake with paper filter. The Euro Box and K&N had 2.1% more airflow than stock.

I think the Euro Box on its own may not provide tangible gains, but I'm hoping that used in conjunction with an exhaust system and tune will give bit more power.

I am also running a euro airbox... Got one 2nd hand for very little money (compared to new) from Austalian classifieds on this forum. It didn't have the maf, but you use your existing US maf anyway, so you are paying for more than you need when you buy one of these new. The maf is the most expensive part, I think it constitutes ~$300 of the ~$400. I was just very patient and thorough in my search because didn't want to pay $400, and after using it glad I didn't because don't think it is worth that much.

Some on this board have descibed the benefit as the car "breathes better" I have to agree that is what it feels like to me also. The engine feels like it will increase in rpm more freely. MAYBE a slight noise increse but too little to be certain. The performance benefit most likely comes from the simple increase in surface area of the cylindrical air filter over the flat filter. I calculated roughly 20%, plus there is no secondary restriction from a carbon filter.

Thanks...I actually did my first mod, K&N drop in and carbon filter delete (not much I know). I tested the car and can see a much better engine breathing. I go through the RPM's much easier and I hope that will get better feel with the Euro Box. But I'm on the lookout for an Euro Box.

Still a cheaper option than the BMW Perf Intake @ $725 with basically same level of performance gain + due to euro design removeable top lid - changing the filter is easier then with the BPI which is still the 2-pc style...

For all the people running the Euro Intake, are you using the K&N filter? I've used the drop-in flat K&N filter before and it was soaked in oil. When I get my filter today, should I let it sit in the sun or do something else to get rid of excess oil?

Using the K&N in mine - I use K&N's in all my cars.

I never had a problem with the filters being over-oiled new outta the box, but I have seen friends who have put waaayyy too much oil on them afterwards.

Problem is, the oil just doesn't go away unless you totally clean the filter with the recommended cleaning solution and re-oil (Use items in K&N Oil/Cleaning Kit)

It is a problem if over-oiling allows oil to travel thru intake system and coat the MAF wire. This will then give incorrect readings and the MAF will need to be cleaned with the special aerosol MAF Cleaner that you can find @ any auto parts store...

Thanks for the info. I've had K&N flat panel filters on before, both the e90 and my old Pontiac, and it always seemed like the plastic bag was coated in oil. I opened the filter to my Euro Box and it didn't seem like there was an excessive amount.

Going to get my PE and Intake put on today, can't wait.

I like this set up. Is it the BMW PE and the Euro Air Intake Box?

Yeah, it's the OEM PE and Euro Box with K&N filter. Planning to do the AA tune as well.

Yep. I put in the euro intake with K&N filter today. So far I've only driven it a little, but I'm pretty pleased.

Has anyone experienced both the Euro intake and the OEM Performance Intake and can give a comparison? Seems like the main advantage to the PE is they really can't give you any warranty hassles over a part that is sold as an official US market accessory. But I can't decide if that is worth $350 over an already expensive part.

If I were you I would just go with the euro one. I prefer cone filters anyways plus it's way cheaper than the perf one.
