Not totally sure, but i'm pretty certain it was in the last few days, looks like one awesome day, everything BMW on earth looks like it was there, from ACSchnitzer, Hartge to Vishnu and various other tuners, and i don't think there is a model of bimmer missing in the gallery too.
Think i'll have to try and make sure work are sending me to the US around the time the next one is on!

we edon't have enough people in australia to have something like this but think about it, most of the people here that have a prestige car think they are above things like this (boo and hiss, lol)... more people = more likely to have enough peope to attend shame though... would be awesome to see all the different bimmers lined up... isn't the closest to this we have like club shows or show n shine?

we do .. in a way ...
was able to go to the nsw club's show n shine last year at silverwater and, while it may not be as large (no where close) as this one, it's worth checking out. lots of different models, old and new, too. now, if all of us on this board (at least the local ones) probably added our car(s) to this one, it may add to the numbers, and so on ad infinitum. |

We have had a public holiday in Brisbane today and so I went to the "Hot Rod" show. The only european car there was a VW but I loved all that American mussle car stuff. Lot's of lovely vets and stangs.
The Dyno shot out was OK too. Seeing a "turdruna" hit 719 rear wheel HP was unbelevivable as it was trying to excape from being tied down. Friggin loud !!!! |

really depends on what you would be expecting. for something the cost of driving to the place (there's free parking and there's no "entrance fee"), you'll get a good selection of old and new and get the opportunity to talk to brand enthusiasts. beats going to shows costing $27 (plus parking and petrol).

Yeah, but thats because they cost 3 times as much here, hence the people who mod cars can't afford them.

Just a quick example a brand new M3 (e46) in the US retails for USD$50k so when you convert it at an FX rate of AUD$1=USD$0.80 comes to AUD$62.5k, which is about how much an optioned up 320i costs, where a brand new M3 here costs AUD$160k!! ~AUD$100k more!!!

I like the 320i analogy, where here you can get into a 320i with a sports pack, with the same cash in the US you'd be in a brand spanking new M3!! Ok let's stop this now or we're all going to get depressed!

Dont complain about Aussie prices people!!
My parents reside in Singapore. Dad bought a new Audi A4 for $185,000 Singapore Dollars... but mind you S$1 is AU$1.3 approx. So not much of an exchange rate. It's all about the tax to keep the numbers of cars down in the tiny island country. A stock Hyundai Excel in Singapore will set you back $70,000 AUSTRALIAN DOLLARS!!!!!! If you didnt know (a bit of a culture/ history lesson here), one has to 'bid' to own the 'title' to a car in Singapore. The car itself (take the Excel for example) is only worth $14,000. But, you have to bid against others who want that same car for the title to own it. This bidding can go up to the tens of thousands of $, and you end up paying $50,000-$60,000 for this 'title' and add the price of the car $14,000 on top of it. This 'title' is known as COE - Certificate of Entitlement'. What I paid for my E90 is biscuits compared to my dad's stock Audi! Plus, in Singapore, you pay road tax not like here in Melb (which is an annual fixed amount of $570) based on the cc's of your car. You want a massive 6litre V8 engine, you pay $2500 in tax... but a 1.5l excel, you pay $900 in tax per annum. Makes sense though, charge those who can afford to buy bigger/ more expensive cars more tax than those who choose to buy a small get around car who pay less tex. Comments?

What happens to the title when they sell the car second hand? Surely the used car market must be pretty good for resale value then? |
