Upgrade 8" woofers or add 10" or 12" sub in trunk?
Hey Everyone,
Debating if I should upgrade the 8" woofers under my seat or just add...1 10" or 1 12" sub in my trunk... Options are Earthquake 8" upgrade with 150 watt rms to each or 1 10" or 12" JLw7 with say 750 watt rms.... Something on those lines? Thanks |

10" corner loaded sub would be perfect.

I went with 8" Jehnerts under the seats and a 10" Morel Ultimo SC corner load in the trunk. Pretty happy with the way it turned out.

I recently went with the Pioneer TS-SW841D for under seats, bass is pretty good, way better than stock, install wasn't as easy as the SWS 8Xi Earthquakes, but to me the Pioneers sounded better so it was worth it. If you want a ton of bass then there is no doubt those JL W7's will fulfill that need for Bass, with that u might as well just turn off the under seat subs and just have the w7 banging in your trunk. I've heard the 12" W7 and that alone can easily bang louder than a couple of kickers, rock fords, etc..

yeah I actually order a Jl 12w3v3-2 ohm and an Alpine MRP-M500..... 1 x 500 watts rms @ 2 ohm and its digital so I can put it under the rear tire cover....
I will take photo's of my install and post them.....I ordered Technics cable so it should be straight forward.... The only other subs I've had are a RE Audio 12" xxx in a 2.5 cu ft port box with a Rockford fosgate power series 1000 watts x 1 ....and a rf 12" power sub with the same amp before that....both in an explorer..... I have a VW Touareg that my wife drives and if this isn't enough bass for me I'll put it in her car and then buy a 12w6 and alpine pdx-m6.......the 12w6 and pdx were like close to $700..... and the 12w3 and the m500 was 330 shipped to my door.....and a lot of people said SQ isn't as good as 12w6 but spl is equal.... |

I didnt realise we had subs under our seats! Hmmmmm after i finish my exterior mods, i will move onto my ICE system...
I have the upgraded system from factory, but honestly... I do not think it is that good! I think the sound out of my old clk 200 was a little clearer. |

Well my old system I had MB Quartz premium 6.5 comps in the front and 6 x 9's in the rear.... Alpine something head unit I forget... and then a Hifonics Zeus amp power the mb's and this was with the RE xxx.... It was a very nice system... It sounded amazing but also was very loud....My friend had a 13w7 and the RE xxx was much louder and sounded clearer to me....My friend was pissed because he spent way more money than I did...... and I was bouncing quarters off the roof of my explorer....

Interested in hearing more on what was involved in getting those pioneers under the seats? Could you tell us what you had to do?[/QUOTE]
I had to cut up, the stock sub enclosures under the seats because the pioneer is bulky, I used a dremel to sand down some of the sides to make it fit, and since the floor pan and the plastic lining under the hood was almost in direct contact with the speaker, I used fatmat to cover that up, because without it the speaker would rattle up against that plastic the fatmat deadened that. Then I just places the enclosure a long with the sub back in and bolted down the seats, the subs don't stick out a lot but they did rattle the stock speaker grill so I just took them off, I'm planning on fiberglassing the enclosure to seal it back up, but as of now the speakers sound great. En though they're only partially sealed. |

I went with the sws8 also and powered them with a fosgate p300 amp. I was very impressed with the base just from upgrading the speakers powered by the fosgate is a huge difference from stock. Now unless you're looking for the kind of bass that rocks the car next to you this isn't it. But its very clean sound and compliments the logic 7 pretty good. People do think I have a box in the car when I pull up with music playing and can't believe it's coming from underseat woofers. If you do a search in the stereo section you will find a ton of info. It's just about plug n play without cutting or splicing into any factory wires.

Real men use 24s http://shop.mtx.com/p/l_230/MTX_Audi...r/listing.html Only problems it weighs 369lbs So if you want 2, you're gonna have to put some weight in the front if you want your car to stay horizontal
