I hope it's OK to post a non BMW detail but I haven't done my wife's 328 yet. I'm no pro but I am very particular about my vehicles and after owning a black C6 Vette I learned to polish with a DA. Swirl marks drive me CRAZY especially on black.

Here are some pics of a detail I did on a friends Vette. As you will see it was badly swirled with some minor defects. He had a small ..um.. "run in" with a construction barrel on the passengers front quarter and door just before the detail but you'll see how it looks after I was done. Notice the clarity of the paint after just polishing and before the last step product.

The wheels were removed so I could do the wheel wells and inside rims. The exhaust tips were cleaned on the inside with fine steel wool. I don't have any before pics but they were pretty black.

There are some before and afters as well as half and half of the hood.
The reflection pic, with me in it, is the drivers door. I was able to get a few of the hood in the sun which is a good way to check your work.
Sorry about the finished pics though, the sun wasn't out when I finally finished.
