330i 6MT Tranny Juice

Is there a fluid level sensor in the tranny tied into the BC?

If not is the only way to check level by crawling under and checking fill plug?

After all of these years of this vehicle being around, what is the general consensus for the best fluid to refill it with?

Would like to drain and refill, and have a suspicion it is low on fluid.

Thanks.

No sensor, checking the level at the fill plug is the only way.

For PA and colder winters, RedLine D6 ATF is the best, you'll need 2 qts. There's a DIY in that sub-forum.

I did the Redline D6 this spring. You'll need a pump, a cheap hand pump works. Of course, the gear box is maybe marginally less notchy with the Redline, so don't expect any magical change from OEM.
