Tape will come off...I vaguely remember someone selling a protective saran-wrap like material that is temporary, but can't think of who it is at this moment. Clear contact paper should work pretty good too.

I know there is the clear protective coating stuff you can use. I've never personally used it, but I hear it turns yellow in the sun. I dont know price wise, but it might be worth looking into just for the trip up then taking it off.

just clear bra it at that point. Last longer, if done right, looks better, and is not some "band-aid" fix

I know I'm probably in the minority given this is the detailing forum, but I would just drive your car as is. There's a small chance you might get a small rock chip but that could happen during normal driving as well.

OIC, they do sell the clear Guard in bulk, just buy that or buy the green painters tape. It will not mess up paint.

That may have been back in the old days. I've had VentureShield Clear bra on my entire front for 4 years now and it looks clear like the day I got it, and I have 89k miles on my car now.

I have my entire hood, front bumper, M-Aero lip, headlights, foglights, both side mirrors, and side pillars all clear bra'd.

So easy to clean too. I just spray Plexus (a plastics cleaner) on and wipe off. Makes washing the car very easy.

It's not cheap but I haven't had to worry about paint chips for 4 years... whether it's tracking or my daily 110-mile commute to and from work.

But if it's just one long road trip that you're going to take... just use 3M painters tape.

Man, I wish I knew that a few months ago. My hood has become peppered really badly within the past 6k miles.

Clear bra or nothing.

Drive slow and keep way far back from other cars in front of you.

Mine too, i feel your pain. Really sucks. I was thinking about getting it resprayed but if I do that I think I'm just going to invest in a carbon fiber powerdome hood. maybe Vorsteiner or something

I put on a clear bra when I first got my car almost 4 years ago. Worth every penny; albeit the bra does oxidize over time and will eventually need to be replaced...No rock chips though
