Is it broken or can you just pop it back in?

I think you should just lemon the car.(just kidding) I know it must be a PIA to have to keep taking it in for the same problem. Perhaps you might want to make a call to BMW customer relations and express your dissatisfaction.

I found the device annoying. I removed the fuse for it the second week I owned the car, before it had a chance to break.

On the contrary, I think it's a very ingenious device. I even say "thank you" when it hands me the belt! If you treat your car with respect, it will reward you with years of trouble free service.

I only drove a coupe once, it was the 335i when they were first launched. I remember thinking then that the seatbelt pusher outer thingy seemed pretty flimsy and wondered how long they would last before breaking.

I can think of a dozen different ways to make it more robust, and more durable. BUT BMW has Price points just like anybody else. They have to save some money here and there where they can or the cars would no longer be competitive in the market.

So, We've got a slightly flimsy seat belt presenter. It still beats the hell outta the rotator cuff surgery folks would be needing without it and if you think it's a bad idea, go drive a new Mustang. The seat belts are so far back as to be comical in that POS.

Besides, pretty sure that BMW left em' flimsy so that 1. Nobody gets hurt by doing stupid shit and getting in the way. 2. To give the press something to focus their pent up frustrations on because there is so little to nitpick about the new E90 family.

So, STFU take a few seconds to mention the "funky Seat belt presenters" to passengers and instead of a petty annoyance they become an interesting feature.

Yeah, maybe that was it. Some slight of hand to take the focus off iDrive, which the magazine hacks love to trash!

No kidding, the way most mags talk about it you'd half expect the screen to spit a turd at you anytime you used it.

Yeah, you shouldn't be so cheap. The belt butler tip jar needs to be constantly replenished or it gets pissed off.

That said, mine comes apart now and then too. It's not a price point or a cheap thing. They just didn't design it properly. The groove/catch/hook that connects the two pieces together isn't properly engineered. Mine just comes apart constantly and I have to snap it back together.

Go to the DIY files and take out the seatbelt fuse.

I'm the same way. I broke mine the first week. Popped it back in, and it works perfectly. I cant imagine the car without it, now. What I once perceived as a flimsy, stupid, POS is now a huge convenience
