Screen issue
Hey guys, picked up my 2007 335i a few days ago and ran into a little problem with the stereo screen. It doesn't have the navigation/idrive system but it has the logic7 option. The problem is that the screen (the one thats like 1" thick) has verticle fading on it....meaning the display kinda fades from the correct red color to a faded red and back, instead of staying a constant clear red. Has anyone else had any problems with this?
When i got the car it did not have this problem...it was only after about 3 days of owning it this occurred. The only mod I have done to the car is the golf tee mod...which I'm pretty sure has nothing to do with the screen malfunction... Has anyone had or heard of this issue before? Btw I'm over 50k so no factory warranty... |

The fading sounds like the issue i have. Mine is NOT to the point where it's hard to read the display, just makes one wonder. Like you said it's never at night.
Maybe it has something to do with the solar sensor, (i think it's the little hump in front of the speaker grill), maybe it cannot handle fast changing lighting conditions. Eg. going under trees, in and out of shades etc. I'll try to cover it up and see what happens. Other than that, I have no idea! |

Just update the system to the newer system. That would replace the screen and the system is much nicer.

I have a 2010 e91 i don't think there is a newer system,or maybe i'm wrong on that.
And just to rule out any misunderstanding we are talking Non Idrive, the standard BMW professional Radio unit, right? |

Yea non idrive but with Logic7. This morning it looked fine while I was driving to work, and there was daylight already...although I have a feeling later on this afternoon the problems going to come up again...

I found another thread regarding this same exact issue. Seems as if this is a factory defect and theres not much you can really do about it except replace the whole unit or screen...
That being said, since I have the logic7 system is an aftermarket headunit feasible? Or will an aftermarket HU not work with the L7 components (speaker, subs, etc) I honestly hate the stock stereo it looks extremely outdated and would love to replace it with an Alpine navi screen or something. |

Do a search for pixels
a page or two will come up.
One of the more recent ones has a link for pixel repair. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/BMW-C...ioQ5fVideo#ht_ Last edited by ctuna; 10-11-2011 at 11:17 AM.. |
