Aux Cable input Implodes :(
Hi so I will let my pics do most of the talking. Umm, I tried to plug in my aux cable for the first time and the jack fell into the hole. Any advice on how to get it out would be great thanks!
I tried going through the bottom from the weird ash tray thing in the back but that didn't work |

Lol someone else on this forum did the same exact thing and he had a hell of a time trying to get it out. Don't know if he ever did. I would go to the dealer.

Ok just an update, I took the bag panel off, the one with the A/C, and I reached my hand around and was able to fix it. Thanks everyone!

Thanks for the update. Glad you got it fixed. I thought you said you tried going through the back. Just re-read it and realized you just tried from the back ashtray.

Bump - this happened to me a couple days ago. I was able to take off the rear AC panel and reach around the vent (tough because the duct is in the way) to get the plug back in its place, however, there isn't anything to prevent this from happening again. The plug can fall down again with little force (ie, the force required to plug in the aux or usb cable). Does anyone have a permanent solution to keep this thing in its place?

Glue keeps it back in place
If you go through the ebrake boot you can reach it in 2 seconds. Just I clip it, fold it up over the ebrake and reach your hand towards the back. What I did was pulled it forward and I unclipped the Aux part from the wires then fed the wire back up through the hole, reconnected the aux to the wire and set it back in the slot |

thanks for the advice. I got the plug back in place and haven't touched it since (leaving the YFL cables plugged in). I'll get some crazy glue and apply around the edges. kind of a poor design by bmw.

I realize this is an old thread but it's the most popular with my search query so I'm adding on.
My aux input fell into my center console as well and when I try to reinstall it, the driver's side (where the arrow is pointing), never wants to stay in place. Has anyone come across this issue before? I can't insert a flash drive without the aux input falling through again. It doesn't seem like anything broke so I don't know what to do Any help would be greatly appreciated because I'm really tired of listening to the radio. |

Having the same issue here myself, I used 954Stealth's method which is pretty easy however as has been stated previously at least on mine nothing prevents the auxiliary port from falling in again I guess I'll need to use some super glue

I have the same issue. After using tweezers and small rids with rubber bands on it, I finally got it out. Now I'm afraid to unplug my ipod cable for fear of falling in again. Anyone have a viable solution to this?
